I’m not defending Green either, although I do like the kid. Instead, I’m taking a shot at all the Grimes love here. The two do not look significantly different by the numbers. They are the same age. Grimes may be better, and his current contract certainly is. But I’m not seeing a needle mover at this point. Hope, yes. See, no.

Grimes over Green passes the eye test for me. we will see if it will continue.
IMO, he is a better man on man defender. He is a more willing shooter while still shooting a solid percentage. He finds way to find shots within the offense. This was one of my knocks on Green. I didn't want Green to be a top offensive option, but if you play 20-25 minutes you need to find scoring opportunities besides wide open threes. The thing that has surprised me with Grimes lately is his play off the dribble. He is better than Green at this. Green is better passing off the drive, but he was so resistant to score that teams started playing him to pass.

Lol I can't count. Thank you!

Chicagojk gave a good answer from the eye test standpoint. Just looking at the numbers, it looks like Grimes is a much more willing shooter (more space) and a better rebounder while Green is a better distributor. It also looks like Grimes has a much better impact on the court, especially on the defensive end.

I’m not seeing those numbers. I’m seeing numbers that say Grimes is slightly more willing to shoot. But ok. Hoping you are correct.

Grimes takes 11 shots per 36 while Green takes 8. That’s nearly 40% more. Grimes also has one of the highest net rating and defensive rating on the team. Green was near the bottom in both categories last season.
Edit: actually it looks like green took 9 shots per 36 with Mavs. The bigger difference is 3 point attempts. Green took 4.5 per 36. Grimes is taking 6.5 for the season, but it’s probably closer to 8 recently as he started out slow.

Yeah, it's already not close, and now that Grimes is ensconced in the rotation, increasing the sample size will dilute the results of his slow start and probably make this an even less close comparison.
