I don't think it's a wash, no. Just my opinion, but I think we'll find out that missing out on what Brunson can do next year will prove to be more of an issue than anything potentially improved by adding those others into the mix.

The absolute key to last year was the three-playmaker construction after the trade for Dinwiddie. Now we have two. If that isn't addressed, of fricking course the Mavs are going backwards, and it's rather a gaslight to assert otherwise.

I'm thinking the biggest key in the second half of last year was Luka finally playing himself into shape and playing like a superstar.  After that I would say it was getting ride of the bad chemistry of KP while replacing most of his offense with Din and Bertans.  I'm not sure how much having two playmakers on the court at one time changed the offense.  It seems to be more of I go you go.  I'm actually really interested to see the impact of having Wood out there.

I think Brunson's biggest value was when Luka was off the court.  That is what we are going to miss him the most.  My hope is that with Luka's new focus on conditioning it wont be that much.  Still very worried about playmaking depth, but I bet we start this next season better than we started the last one.

Regular season should be fine
I don't think anyone should be surprised by 60+ wins if we get a skinny, motivated Luka

We just need to do some moves to keep him around here long term. Get it done, Nico.

Tier I

1. Golden State Warriors - Adding Klay for the whole season should put them as #1 seed even with the role players losses.
2. Denver Nuggets- Great core for Jokic to play around, no more excuses.
3. Phoenix Suns - Still a good regular season team. Teams will start to target Paul a lot more.
4. Minnesota Timberwolves Could be a juggernaut if everything works out.
5. LA Clippers - Title favorites that will lose a lot of games lost due to health management.

Tier II

6. Dallas Mavericks - Expecting the same problems to haunt DAL with Luka Hero-ball, Wood is a wildcard.
7. Los Angeles Lakers - Sneaky candidate to surprise, since everyone is counting them out.
8. Portland Trail Blazers - Lillard can win some games by his own and his core isn't that bad (comparable to DAL).
9. Memphis Grizzlies - Not having JJJ to start and adding a bunch of rookies will hold them back.
10. New Orleans Pelicans - Zion health still a concearn, young fellas would have to develop nicely for them to move up.
11. Sacramento Kings - Even with an improved roster, it's hard to put them ahead of any team in front.

Tier III

12. Utah Jazz - Still can compete with Donovan and role players, but will tank and move down when they trade him.
13. Oklahoma City Thunder - SGA will put them a little ahead of the other tanking teams.
14. Houston Rockets - Could develop their rookies into a decent starting unit for next season.
15. San Antonio Spurs - Tank for Wembanyama.

My List is similar (Great Job!) but i have a few key changes: (order is exchangeable within each tier)

Tier 1: (should be top 3 seeds)

Warriors
Nuggets
Clippers

Tier 2: (the rest of the playoffs unless something goes wrong for a team here that Tier 3 snags a spot)

Mavs
Suns
Timberwolves
Lakers
Blazers

Tier 3: (Wildcard spots that COULD steal a playoff spot depending upon how well they play and how badly a Tier 2 team drops)

Grizzlies
Pelicans
Kings

Tank/Tier IV:

Spurs
Jazz
Rockets
Thunder

While I would like to see other ways to attack defenses or backup plans to counteract or for account for injuries, the current team, if healthy, will provide defenses fits.

Luka + Secondary creator + elite rim runners + good shooters= no answers for defenses.

Now can Dallas be a top 10 defensive team or is their ranking the second half of the year closer to truth?   Also, if Luka is out things sort of go up in smoke, I believe.  Last year our bench unit when Luka rested was great and I think was one of the sneaky good things about this team.   Dallas will have trouble re-capturing this imo.

It is funny how I used to get attached to these foreign guys with athleticism.  There were a few of them over the years.

Yeah, a huge part of why the team was so good with Luka off the court was Brunson.  Din has some big shoes to fill.  Hope he stays healthy.

I agree. T-Pups will be better, but I don't see why people are discounting Memphis when they just had a good draft with young athletic wings to add to the vets. They lost Slo-Mo,  they're young but they have very good depth even without Jackson.  Brandon Clarke can play and he can fit in Jackson's spot. Tillman is also a good player to plug in. .Could they take a step back?  Sure. But I guess people think last year was a fluke.  If they stay healthy, I don't. But that's just me.

Wouldn’t mind getting the 4 seed with the LAC as the 5 and getting over that hump in the first round. Wipe that smug look off or Morris face permanently!

One is clearly the fourth of his kind and the other judging by his name is an African-born French C that is likely a combination of Gobert + Embiid.
