I´d want Gary Harris over Covington any day of the week. That guy is literally the perfect partner for Luka. Top defensive player, doesn´t need the ball and almost automatic on the corner three.
Mavs aren't getting Gary Harris

Good move by Utah. Exum is most likely a lost cause and Clarkson will be much better back up PG.

Utah seems a little desperate to right the ship and add more scoring punch. Exum was a good defensive guard with them.
It sucks that injuries derailed his development.
Also something to think about, how many picks does Utah have left after the Korver/Conley/Clarkson trades?

Outside of Conley, they've mostly been swapping 2nd round picks.

I think if even we don't make a major move or somewhat disruptive trade we will at least get off C Lee contract and maybe try to use the TPE or GS pick to make something happen. Those seem like low risk opportunities that couldn't hurt to explore with high intensity

And according to Omari Sankofa II of The Athletic, the plan remains for Iguodala to eventually be moved:
"The word since the summer has been that the Grizzlies are looking for a promising asset in return for Iguodala, whom they received along with a protected future first. That hasn't changed. The Grizzlies are certain that Iguodala will be moved before the deadline and have engaged several teams on frameworks for potential deals. There's confidence that Memphis will be able to land a first-round pick or promising young player in return, as preferred by the front office."

It´s so infuriating that this could have been us, loaded with a virtually unprotected 2024+ Warriors 1st, our 2020 1st, the Warriors 2020 2nd rounder and whatever extra for Igoudala.

Wouldn't that also have meant the Mavs lost out on 1 of Seth Curry or Wright due to cap restrictions?
But you're right, its tantalizing to think about the Mavs having essentially 3 firsts to trade for someone.

But no need to complain too much since we went from lottery to beating and being in the conversation as a contender...

Mavs had 30 mil in cap space but decided to go over the cap. Delon + Curry was 17 but they would have needed 17 to absorb Iguodola into space. Lee could have been S/W-ed for another 8 or so. Seems like for Iggy and a pick that would be work 4/yr in dead money for a couple years but I don't think we ever see teams do that really.
Jr Smith could have been had for the right price. He ended up getting waived. I think the Mavs had the best contract to send back for Smith. You would have sent cash plus a second or two for Smith who would have been waived creating more cap space (8-9). In that scenario you get Iggy, Curry, Wright and a better pick that you gave away. You still had the small MLE for Boban.
Mavs might instead be giving up a pick or two for Iguodala now half a season in. Mavs could have had him all year and a GS #1 pick with some clever GM-ing.

Why the hell would (any) disgruntled star want to go to New York to be even in a worse situation he is now. It just makes absolutely no sense.

DET announced today that Kennard is out with a knee injury for a while.
Things might get really ugly there quickly. I expect them to move some of their guys before the season is over.

They might have the most depressing roster in all of basketball.
To give away Blake, Drummond, Jackson or Snell for virtually NOTHING might be considered a good trade. Beyond that Luke Kennard is their best asset. They have no additional draft assets either, just their own picks.
Would you commit $100M to Blake over the next three years, if they offered him straight up for THJ+Lee?
I would not.
Maybe you could get a lottery protected 1st for Drummond from a desperate team. Is that worth it?
Therefore I don´t see any reason for them to make any trades.
