Well, Jrue would certainly cost them some good players, as they don't have any picks to trade. And Pelicans will most likely not take back garbage as Waiters or Johnson. Is Jrue really a short term improvement over Dragic + Herro + more that would be his price? I am not sure.

I think Jrue fits that team's current makeup to a T.

I'm sure he does. But again - he will cost Dragic, Herro and more. Both players are contributing a lot. I would argue they are contributing more between them than Jrue.

 • The Minnesota Timberwolves are interested in Dennis Smith Jr., per SNY's Ian Begley.

 • The New York Knicks are "open to moving [Julius] Randle," according to Newsday's Steve Popper.

 • According to Bleacher Report's Eric Pincus, the Indiana Pacers' Myles Turner, the Golden State Warriors' D'Angelo Russell and the Minnesota Timberwolves' Jeff Teague and Robert Covington could all hit the trade market.

 • Elsewhere in the Pincus report, we read that the Dallas Mavericks could crash the Andre Iguodala sweepstakes. He also listed the Portland Trail Blazers, Atlanta Hawks and Phoenix Suns as potential suitors for Kevin Love.

 • "While I appreciate the support he's shown throughout my career, his comments don't reflect how I feel, and we've addressed that," Philadelphia 76ers guard Trey Burke said (h/t Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer) after his father posted a now-deleted plea to have his son traded on Instagram. "My focus is doing whatever I can to help this team win a championship. I appreciate the support this organization, the fans and city of Philadelphia have shown me.”

 • Washington Wizards general manager Tommy Shepard insisted Davis Bertans isn't available, per a team podcast

This goes to the consolidating talent thing that a lot are hung up on with a trade from this team. If you can get the (edit) value contribution of even 1 and 1/2 of the 2 outgoing, I think that is better overall value in the package, because you can find that 1/2 value most anywhere. That's why the higher talent is much more coveted.

The Mavs just contributed their thoughts to our trade discussion. They like this roster and value it's chemistry enough to stay away from an Iggy trade.

I very much agree with them. Never understood why 36 yo Iggy who would most definitely be gone in the offseason was so coveted by so many fans. Not sure he helps us win that much more in the playoffs, although I maintain, I could be wrong on that. I guess if he helps us get to 1 extra round (no way of ever knowing that), that would be very valuable to this young and very inexperienced group.

Great. Stay alert if an opportunity for a real upgrade opens (I am sure they are doing their work) and try to get assets for Lee and TE

Dang Brad pouring cold water on my dreams. The Mavs have been tied to Iguodola for months by guys like Stein so it's surprising now to hear zero interest. I trust Brad's reporting on this. It makes me think then the Mavs are not going to make a move unless it's a major upgrade. I hope they would still get into the buyout market and let Lee go for either a better vet or a kid they can develop.

One thing for you guys that are anti rental players that could get you into the next round. The further the Mavs get the more inflated our players value becomes on the open market. It's just the nature of it. How many Warriors spares have seen their stocks go up? So if you want a big trade at some point it helps you I'd the Mavs can get at least to round two. The national stage makes or breaks players but the further you get tends to benefit everybody. Imagine THJ having a great round 1 shooting expedition. It's definitely possible. So to me using a 2nd pick on a rental that beefs up your defense is not a waste at all.

I hope this is negotiation but Mavs tend to not negotiate through the media so it's more likely that we can take this at face value as the Mavs aren't really interested.

I 1000% think that Iggy talk is misdirection/negotiation tactic. I'm sure the Mavs don't want to disrupt their current chemistry, but to me that screams that Memphis is asking for players that are in our rotation, and the Mavs aren't interested in a deal like that, and why should they?

But a Lee for Iggy trade? Of course they would do that.

Assuming this is true I presume this means that we are not willing to attach an asset to Courtney Lee to entice the Grizz into making the trade. Not really surprising, I'd be hesitant to offer more than Lee for a player as old as Iggy who's impact looks to be declining judging by his advanced numbers last season. Golden State's defense was actually worse in the playoffs with Iggy on the court

If Iggy gets bought out he'll go to the Lakers so probably best to forget about this idea

Noooooooo!

The only acceptable trade would be to Mavs.  I want to keep him for rebuild he is still young enough to be around.

Atlanta does have a ton of disposable expiring salaries, so if OKC wants to shed money it does make sense.  I don't wish that on Adams, though.

I´d want Gary Harris over Covington any day of the week. That guy is literally the perfect partner for Luka. Top defensive player, doesn´t need the ball and almost automatic on the corner three.

Pretty logical. Atlanta has an excellent young base and three big expiring contracts to play with.
