knox was decent as a rookie too bad his rookie season has been his best season of career.

Rudy is so washed. He can't keep up at all.

Add to it he's shooting the worst he's ever shot in his career. I mean he's a nice vet, but I can't see him fitting the "help the defense" angle for him.

Justin Holiday, SF, Houston: A steady 3-and-D wing in years past, Holiday seemed to lose some athletic juice over the past two seasons — as most easily seen in his shocking 3.0 percent rebound rate this season. He fell out of Atlanta’s rotation like a rock dropped from a plane, playing a grand total of 10 minutes since New Year’s Day. However, he can still shoot it (36.4 percent career from 3), never gets hurt and is a plus locker room guy, so perhaps a contender needing a fifth wing will take a look.

This sounds like a legitimate option for the Mavs. Love the bit about the good locker room guy. I’m a little nervous about that front with losing Boban, DoDo and Brunson from last years immaculate vibes locker room.

I'm actually starting to get highly doubtful HOU is gonna buyout these guys.

Their team is desperate for vet leadership. I can't recall the amount of podcasts I've heard where the insiders briefly mention HOU and follow it with "something is extremely wrong down there in HOU."

I'd love Holiday though.

For sure he’s lost a step. I wouldn’t worry about his shooting percentages at his volume but I hear you. I just think right now we’re a team without anything that resembles a 4 and he’s the only one who may end up on the market so Id keep an eye on him.
Skin interviewing Nico mentioned that Cuban wanted an empty roster spot all along for a potential buy out guy signing.  Nico again said they are going to be involved in it, they just didn't know who was going to be available.

I dunno man. He reminds me a whole lot of Peja when we picked him up. Not looking for 30 minutes. Just 8 in a game or 2 in a series or 2. Brian Cardinal played that role for us in the finals when the physicality was too much for Peja. I could easily imagine Rudy and Frank having similar contributions this year. Would love for it to be Hardy instead. But first timers shrink in the playoffs (unless they’re Luka).

His complaining duties also make it hard for him to D up every possession. But yes, when he makes it down the court to defend, his defense has been much better this year than last. And last was better than the years before. I think he can become a very solid defender. Will help that he’s moving to the 4.
Pretty good names are mentioned as buyout candidates this year. I really hope that Mavs are looking at someone who can help them also in the next season or 2.

My wishlist for buyout candidates are:

1. Reggie Jackson. I think he can fill the Spencer roles from last year.

2. Will Barton.

3. Terrence Ross.

4. Alec Burks

5. Derrick Rose (i dont think he will brought out).

Noel could be interesting too, but i don't think he will brought out.

The really hope that Mavs avoid players Danny Green, Ibaka, Dedmon, Love who are in my opinion done.

The same thing is for Russel and Beverley, but for other reasons.

At the end, i think we can really end up with a good player after a buyout.

Number one should not be a guy that can't play any defense. We look just fine with regards to ball handling, and that's without Luka playing. Defense, even a semblance of it is way way more important than ball handling or scoring.
Magic swingman Terrence Ross, who last appeared in a game for Orlando on January 21, is a potential buyout candidate to keep an eye on, league sources told HoopsHype.
Should Ross enter the market as a free agent, the Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns are among the teams expected to monitor Ross’ availability and could use help on the wing for a playoff push.

I haven't watched Ross play, but looking at the numbers I can't see what he'd bring to the table, offensively or defensively.  Obviously the numbers don't always tell the full story, but 2 rebounds and half a steal in 20+ minutes?  His 3pt percentage is pretty good I guess.
I haven’t seen Ross play this year either.  Not sure if he is not good any more or just not in the teams long term plans for a team filled with young kids who need to play.  At least his highlights look impressive from last year.

Could you still give Jaden regular season minutes if you signed him.

17. Terrence Ross, SG, Orlando: Ross is 32, has an expiring contract and doesn’t really fit on a rebuilding Orlando team. He’s been much less shot-happy this season and is a 36.2 percent career 3-point shooter, but his defense was suspect even at the best of times, and it’s not clear whether he’s still good enough to crack a playoff team’s top dozen players.

He looks like an excellent cutter/slasher/finisher who can also shoot the 3-ball. Would fit well with this new and improved offense we’ve seen the last 2 games. His athleticism pops off the screen. Much rather have him than say, Pinson, if it comes down to those type of guys in a playoff game.

That's a pretty impressive highlight reel, so I guess I'll have to do some digging to find out why he's fallen from grace in Orlando if they pick him up.

If turned loose, somebody is going to take a flyer on him.  He'd be a good piece off the bench, even at 32.  You don't suddenly forget how to shoot.  Phoenix?
Oh sorry didn’t realize I’m late to the Ross news.

We really need to do anything to upgrade those Pinson minutes.
Reading some recent "player evaluation" articles on Ross and he sounds like a THJ clone.
