I am going to consolidate Kyrie stuff here so other conversations can still continue in the big trade thread.

I still feel that any Kyrie deal needs to be for THJ+Dinwiddie. No interest in giving up Green, DFS, a 1st, or even Bullock. If Luka and Irving are your two primary ballhandlers you don't really need a 3rd. And I don't think you can afford to have that many poor defenders on the court at once.

Clearly the Nets would have interest in Dinwiddie as he can replace some of Irving's scoring. If they won't take THJ's contract, how about moving him to Cleveland for Levert? I think Dallas has to sweeten the deal for the Cavs, but the trade would look something like:

Dallas: Dinwiddie, THJ, Hardy for Irving
Cleveland: Levert for THJ, Hardy
Brooklyn: Irving for Dinwiddie, Levert

Feel free to sub a few 2nd round picks in place of Hardy if that can get it done instead.

I expect the Mavericks to kick the tires on Irving deals to see if they can dump some bad contracts, but ultimately I don’t expect them to come that strong. First of all, because they can’t — Dallas just doesn’t have a ton of good assets or expiring contracts to put into a deal.

Second, because of the risk factor that Irving could poison things badly enough in Big D for Luka Dončić to decide he’s seen enough and wants out; he wouldn’t be the first Irving teammate to reach that conclusion.

Dallas could construct a deal that sends the Nets old friend Spencer Dinwiddie, plus Tim Haradaway Jr. and a “first available” first-rounder, which likely conveys in 2025. Is that enough? I doubt it. Dallas’ contracts are slightly better than Miami’s, and the Mavs may be a bit more desperate at the moment, but ultimately the risk factor of losing Luka seems to make the downside worse here than almost any place else.
Taken from the other thread.

Can we please get the info from the 4 teams that have the better assets to give? When people say this, in this instance, I can’t take them seriously. The Mavs have THE BEST assets that they could give up in this instance to the team wanting to compete now. Sure, the Suns have better assets than the Mavs, but they aren’t moving those. Sure, all the other teams have better assets, but none of them are going to offer those assets in this trade.

The Mavs are in the drivers seat at this table. What they can extract from being here is all in the negotiating prowess of Nico. I don’t think Cuban is negotiating, neither is Kidd. They are the yappy dogs in the background egging Nico on.
Oh good another place where I can post my ramblings on this.

NO NO NO STAY AWAY FROM KYRIE WHY WOULD THE MAVS EVER DO THIS???????????????

Expect more to come soon in a couple of hours.

Quote:Irving's most likely landing spot is considered to be the Los Angeles Lakers at -110, implying a 52% chance. They're followed by the Phoenix Suns and Dallas Mavericks at +400 and +450, respectively, conveying about a 20% chance. Toronto is a longshot to land Irving at +3000, implying a 3% chance.
Simmons and Irving. Wood, THJ, SD and Bertans to match salaries. All the talent the Mavs could ask for and a million ways for things to go down in flames.

Flames would be much more interesting than the current product.

Need to think big. Trade for Jonathan Isaac and sign Derek Fisher as an assistant coach. All the toxicity and madness on one team. Maybe it creates the perfect balance and they bond over Luka´s tattoos.

I'm a proponent of getting rid of Jason Kidd. If Kyrie keeps him here longer, that makes the whole situation even worse.
