Why would the cap spike when renewing the TV contract? TV ratings are VERY down, streaming is what's up!

It's not like the streaming services get to show the NBA for free. The contracts include everyone.

Do you really think the streaming services bring in as much money as the TV service does with commercials and all?

Not looking to make the move, but what is Luka's market value in a trade scenario? We know what it took the Mavs to get the pick that got them Luka. What would the package have to be to pry him away from the Mavs, provided it's not a shot-gun separation where the Mavs would be forced to sell low?

It would be a 30 team trade where we get every single available pick from every single team. We then proceed to hijack every Superstar trade demand with the biggest offer!

I was thinking about that at draft time. The #1 pick in the draft wouldn't be enough, as coveted as the #1 pick in a draft usually is. It's trading a maybe for an actual. Michael Jordan wasn't wasn't the #1 pick in HIS draft. After they found out what he really was, trading him would have been unthinkable. That's what yourdallasmavericks have with our boy Luka. Whereas before, Trae Young and a pick was cool. Now? Unthinkable.

The Mavs former GM knew Luka was the best player in his draft. Fortunately for Mavs fans, Phoenix didn't. Booker, Luka and CP3 probably wins a championship.

1.  Michael Jordan was the third pick in the 1984 draft (sort of like Luka, except without the monumentally propitious trade).

2.  Fortunately for Mavs fans, Sacramento didn't know Luka was the best player in his draft.  Fortunately for Mavs fans, Atlanta didn't either.

If you have the 1st pick, like Phoenix, they should know who the best player is. Sac and Atl didn't either, but neither had the 1st pick. I'm wondering if they weren't thinking need or ticket sales of something. Trae Young was kind of a known in America. Luka was a "who's he?". The old, all things being equal, buy American. The old bug-a-boo was get the big center when you could, so Phoenix went with Ayton. That happened with MJ. Or go with the athlete type over the skilled, yet boring, Euro.

From Stein:

Quote:Dallas’ Luka Dončić has long been expected to finalize a five-year, $202 million extension at the earliest opportunity this summer, but league sources stress that no deal is expected until after the Olympics, with Dončić intent on keeping all his attention focused on Slovenia’s bid to win a medal in its first Olympic appearance in men’s basketball.

Somebody needs to print this in big letters and put it where Kidd sees it every day.

Kawhi can't guard him either. Nobody can guard him. His lack of conditioning in the 4th quarter is the only thing that slows him down. Hopefully he gets the conditioning this coming season.
