I was trying to post a clip of his dope block today and realized that there is no "DFS: All things Dorian" thread. I didn't have time to start one, nor do I now, but I think that's a crime.

Top 10 Maverick of all time, imho.

Luka 8-32 from three through three games....shooting 25% on almost 11 (!!!) attempts per game.

He has GOT to stop chucking from three like this. HAS TO.

I thought it was bad last season but then this season he just asked me to hold his beer.

Less and better quality shots are needed at the very least.  Neither are likely to happen.

I don't mind him shooting if he is having a great day from 3.
But if he isn't.
He should stop at 7 attempts.
13 is way too many.
A shooter needs to shoot to get out of the funk. Scorers can score in other ways.
Luka needs to know his job isn't just shooting the 3. There's too many guys in the team who's job is only that.

Several of his threes were airballs too. Tired legs. Not a bad shooter, he's just carrying too much of a load.

Possibly settling, because he was getting beat up and refs were not blowing their whistles.

At best he's an average shooter and becomes a bad shooter due to the degree of difficulty on his attempts.  He has some culpability even if I largely agree with your points.

I think it's this. He knows he can get a step-back 3 anytime he wants one, so when the offense isn't flowing or when he's just too winded to drive the ball, he settles for the easy shot (albeit a bad one).

This is why the Mavs need TWO creators on the floor together, so that if Luka is settling, there is someone else to get the offense cooking. Kidd figured it out. Brunson was that guy. But MBT knew better in the summer. Now, no one.

Until they get that other guy, this is what happens. The ball sticks. Bad shots. And Luka ends up with sky-high usage rates. Wood can make shots, but he can't be that Brunson replacement.

Someone figure out how to trade THJ for Brunson, and problem solved.

Yup, it’s by design. He’s absolutely shredding defenses inside the paint whenever he decides to, but not even Luka can do it for 48 minutes.

Workload is a major problem. He’ll hopefully win the MVP award this season but this is not a team that’s constructed for a deep playoff run. The loss of Brunson was a HUGE blow to the competitiveness of this squad.

I’m just happy I pulled a Cuban and saved some bucks on the Mavericks by canceling my league pass subscription this season. So far it looks like the Harden-Rockets or the 2000s LeBron-Cavs. Just one guy forced to do way too much.

One injury to Luka or Dinwiddie and things will get ugly quickly.

Nail, hammer, head.  I agree with this 100%.

I dont fall for the setting up defenses excuse for his 3s.  Im sure thats a tactic that can be used to drag defenders out to the arc...but early season Luka unnecessary 3s are frustrating.

I guess we have to live with it.

I think the REAL problem last night was THJ.  I could tell that his mere presence on the roster dragged every other player down.  They'd clearly be better off just cutting him, even if they have to continue paying his salary for three years.

Sucks to make contract mistakes.

Gotta pay team oriented 2 way players over "le' me get mine" players.

Luka early season mandatory step back 3s at end of quarters are pathetic basketball too.  Dude is a mastermind and probably best offensive player ever...but those late quarter 3s are pathetic and selfish in most cases.   Odd how frequent they are aint it?  At least he doesnt do it in Playoffs...which right there tells you he knows what he is doing.

He's a monster though I was hoping his rebound numbers would drop the season with McGee/Wood on the team.

Dude was hunting Simmons on switches when he used to struggle against him. Crazy.
