2021 NBA DRAFT: July 29, 7 pm

The comparison that is jumping to the forefront of my mind is he's a Pascal Siakam 2.0. He was also another late 1st round pick.

If he falls he'd be an interesting pickup if we can buy a pick.

I want to add that he's like a less mobile Siakam. Which I guess makes him more of a Gourgi Deng...?

Interesting.   I don't know him besides watching a few highlight videos.  I would be surprised if he had Siakam's ball handling ability.   See the highlights of him rim running I would think his peak would be a Clint Capella type player.

He is several years away from being NBA caliber in all likelihood and typically if a player like that is not given a first round promise those are the guys that drop out of the draft and try again next year when they may have more visability.

That's a fair point. In those highlights he still looks extremely raw. But I do see some potential in a player that can put the ball down and run to the rim.

If he does fall out of the draft this year I'd keep an eye on him if only for a 2nd round flyer late in the draft.

Well at least we are working out one prospect

I did some quick looking and don't see him on a lot of top 100 lists...thought this article headline was at least interesting.

Possible rookie FA signing?

OKC, Detroit, Nets and Pels all have 3 second round picks.
Should be easy to get one of those if the Mavs want a specific late draft player for the Legends.

Thanks.  Just by quick search, neither guy is really exciting for me.    Moses Brown has some interesting parts to his game, but the NBA is just so hard to make.  He shot 40 plus from 3 last year after being a 20 plus three point shooter earlier.  But his 3 point shots per game was very low.   I am not sure if he would be a G-league candidate for me.   Jose Alvarado looks like a tough little kid, but he looks a little limited.  But so was JJ.

Regardless, I just hope they are taking this process seriously.   It is difficult to get draft prospects of note to workout for you when you don't have any picks.  I am assume we had a presence at the combine right?  Even if you don't buy a pick, you can find interesting UDFA prospects.    Most won't work out, but it doesn't mean you don't grind to find them.

I don't know who was there, but Mavs were present, as I saw reports abouts Mavs talking to that and that player

RE: Vrenz

Wow, was shocked at how good he looked for not really being on anyone's radar. Dude has a TON of natural basketball feel and instinct, that much is clear.

Yeah I agree he is intriguing.  I would imagine he would be a guy you buy a pick for and stash him overseas right.    Probably not a guy who would want to come over for G-league right----therefore probably not an UDFA candidate.

Watching Jalen Green G-league highlights are really impressive.    This is a very interesting top 4 in the class.   Another potential second round pick and one of a big group of intriguing big man is Green's teammate on the ignite team, Isaiah Todd.    It appears a weakness of his is his basketball IQ, but he is so young.   His jumper looks excellent in a 6'10 guy.

Another international player that I really like....would be great value if he was a 2nd rounder:

Yeah I thought about mentioning him. His highlights and all the physical tools look very impressive for an 18 year old. Last season was the first he saw significant minutes in the ABA, averaged 13/7, peaked with a 38/10 game. Best case he becomes Bojan Bogdanovic. Also worth mentioning Petrusev was the ABA league MVP this year following in the footsteps of Jokic, Saric and Bitadze.

I´d pick up three early 2nd round picks and I take Petrusev, Prkacin and Aldama. Just play the odds. You won´t find many European ABA MVPs or Euro U18 MVP big men that went total bust in the NBA. If you take three of them in the same draft, you get at least one 10 year NBA player out of this imho. It´s just playing the odds of Euro bigs in the 2nd round.

He looks to be too skinny to stop the big bruisers in the league, and too slow footed to be able to switch onto the perimeter guards.

Plus his tendency to shoot those long twos makes me think he'll starve for shots in the NBA where he'll mostly be a rim roller.

Don't think he has it. I do think he has a nice form and he is certainly athletic. Just can't see him excelling unless he has a Christian Wood sorta career where it'll take a couple of years and multiple teams till he lands on the right tanking one where he breaks out.

This won't happen and I tend to get turned off on non shooters, but when I watch Garuba (10-20 range probably) I just think he would be the perfect guy to put next to KP outside of his limited shooting.
