2020-2021 ROSTER TALK: Archived

He has the potential, but not showed anything real at all.

Don't give anything on draft spot. I'd take Haliburton over any of the players picked befor him.
All a higher draft position does is making the contract worse.

Right but I have seen some highlights and I like what I see. Anyways I just think he'd be a good fit here and also remember that he clears up cap space so you get Wiseman + whatever you get from cap space by not paying KP 30M+ for multiple years.

The line forms to the left but again not with players of Ingram's ability bc teams are keeping those players. I haven't watched much Pels bball this year but to me the issue is I don't see why you want Adams in there taking up space. If they did more 5 out style and find a stretch big that fits well with Zion then there's enough spacing for 2 play-makers that don't really have a position in Ingram and Zion. Lonzo in his role makes some since as a spacer so you could keep him and shuffle the rest as necessarily.

I would definitely shuffle the rest of the roster before I start talking ab shipping off Ingram. The best they would get back would be a younger player that's maybe not as good currently but has similar upside and a better fit with Zion long-term.

The fundamental problem is that you have two natural 4s who are always going to have issues on defending the perimeter for a lot of the same reasons.   This isn't like Tatum and  Brown where both of them can defend at a high level and play on or off ball on offense.   So as long as you have both of them on the floor, you're defense is probably going to be bad (which it has been all year).   And while both Ingram and Zion are gifted scorers, both of them are best with the ball in their hand creating and neither are great off ball or spot up shooters.  Zion ideally needs to really be surrounded by 3D wings who can play high level perimeter defense and shoot lights out when the defense collapses in on him, and a 5 who can clear out the paint.

New Orleans is already in buckled in for the long haul, which is why they traded Jrue Holliday before the season.   They haven't even used up all the Laker picks from the AD trade.  They shouldn't be desperate to win now when they still haven't cashed on on those trades yet.       They can trade Ingram off to a team that is desperate to win now.   Ingram would probably be a phenomenal big stats on a bad team player.    If you're New Orleans you eyeball franchises who are desperate for a playoff appearances and cant draw premium free agents and pry their young talented assets off of them (ie  Kings with Halliburton and Bagley)

David Griffin would die from laughter if Cuban proposed a KP for Ingram trade.

Trying to figure out why this is a good fit with Luka then?

You have two guys that aren't natural anything. They are both guys basically without positions. Zion in theory should be doing bigs things but he also handles the ball a lot. Ingram is like a combination of 3 or 4 positions. As I said I would try to work it out with those two and shuffle the rest. Having a lane clogger like Adams makes no sense with two unicorn type players there.

I still like Adams a lot as a guy to get you through a regular season with quality minutes. He doesn't do a whole lot for you in the playoffs. I would definitely do a Powell deal for him if NOP has buyer's regret. I just want a freaking guy that rebounds and rolls to the rim.

I mean, if LeBron can make NO give up everything to land the guy he wants, he can make another team do it too right? 3 team trade, Lakers get KP, Dallas gets an AD package, 3rd team gets lube!

LMA being bought out by the spurs. I’d buy out Johnson and take a flyer on him. Even bring him back next year for vet min if he wants to be our team leader

I guess there’s a possibility of trade. Not official but pop has said they’re parting ways

He'll probably ring chase.  Utah has an open roster spot.

I could be frustrated with the use of "rumor" in an article based on pure fan fiction. Or I could roll my eyes at the sheer stupidity of the trade proposal. But today, I'll simply appreciate when a spoiled, entitled, unbearable Lakers fan feels the need to target your guy for a trade. It's a good sign that his perception outside of Dallas is a lot higher than you might think from only reading the negative vibes from frustrated locals.

Looking at the proposed return KPs value might be even lower than most of us think. Thankfully this is only a fantasy trade.

If that's how this works, I hereby propose that Washington trades us Beal for Johnson and a bunch of spare parts with no regard for talent, need, or roster sizes. Since that means Beal's trade value is now lower than most Washington fans think, maybe it moves the needle towards a deal. Wink

So you realize that it works both ways. Just because a random internet guy creates a Lakers-KP trade his value isn´t higher. Just because the offer is really bad his value around the league isn´t lower.

My point was simply that entitled Lakers fans generally don't waste time pining for bad players. But I hear ya. No need to argue over a lame fantasy trade.
