I hesitate only because I wonder if RoCo got run into the ground by HOU this year. He is about to turn 30. Just makes me nervous. His shooting percentages PLUMMETED.

Would the Rox do Kleber and 31 for Covington?  Because last night we did Curry and 18 for Richardson.  The we split the MLE on Justin Holiday and Burke.

Porzingis - Covington - Hardaway - Richardson - Doncic.

Powell - FinneySmity - Holiday - Burke - Bronson.

Easily I'd give up 18 for Covington.
The Athletic (Cato) had RoCo for Powell and Brunson as a trade idea.  He didn't think the Rockets would do it but that was before the Morey news.

Could you imagine RoCo with KP, Luka and Freak.  Sprinkle in some Curry.

Quote:According to Kelly Iko of The Athletic, Stone is a believer in small-ball, but it’s not clear if he’s as enthusiastic about playing a full 82-game season without any traditional centers. As such, it will be interesting to see how aggressively the Rockets attempt to fortify their frontcourt this offseason.

Of course, bigger roster decisions will be on the horizon for Stone and the Rockets, especially if the team fails to make a deep playoff run again in 2021. I’d be surprised if Stone does anything drastic right away, but sources who have spoken to Marc Berman of The New York Post believe the Rockets are likelier to consider the possibility of a Russell Westbrook trade following Morey’s departure.

“I can’t imagine they are keeping (James) Harden and Russ together,” one NBA executive told Berman. “Russ excels best as the best player on a team and Harden needs outside shooters around him – not a ball-dominant guard. I think Russ will be the one traded.”

I always thought it was weird that with the Houston's 3pt gunning style they never seemed to go hard for more specialist 3pt shooters.
Guys like Redick, Seth Curry, Bertans, Korver, Bjelica, Olynyk have all been available over the last few years but Houston didn't seem that interested.
Hell even Broekhoff would have been a monster off their bench jacking 3s.

They also missed Duncan Robinson in the G-League, though they did grab Daniel House I guess.

McLemore is their only player in the top 80 for 3pt % this season.
They have 3 players in the top 51 for 3pt attempts (House is 51st)

I think the Rockets play style is one of the reasons why even good or at least above average shooters have mediocre percentages. Looks like half of the roster had career low percentages this season. No team is taking more contested 3s and it is not only Harden.
Mavs are probably the opposite. DFS and Maxi aren´t as good as the regular season numbers suggest. Both rank in the top 15 in open 3PA and basically never take contested shots. Tucker for example has been one of the best shooters from both corners but with increased volume his percentages suffered. DFS is also a corner specialist but never came close to Tuckers percentages.

Good luck with that. Good thing for Houston is, there is only one phone call it makes sense making, so they can save a lot on phone bills. Dolan (not even Knicks GM, because he might be smart enough to say no immediately).

If I am Mavs and Houston comes with the offer of Westbrook+RoCo for Powell, Wright and Lee SnT, I would probably decline. This is how negative I see Westbrook.

Westbrook is trash at $9 mil per, much less the giant contract he is stealing from the Rockets now.

Westbrook would be great in New York.  There fan base has really low expectations, Russ could easily lead them to 45 wins in the east and maybe even win a playoff series and he would be treated like a god.

Author not optimistic about Houston future. A lot about owners financial problems. A lot about how things are falling apart and how Harden might realize it is time to leave the sinking ship. Choice of coach could be a signal about the direction. If they sign an established coach, they will have one more go. If they go for someone unproven, rebuild might be more realistic.
