What I'm not buying is that not only will be get 10 for 18+DFS but we'll be able to dump a negative value Delon contract and pick up Oubre for free in the same deal.  That's where it gets too lopsided/homerish for me.

First sentence is debatable, but I won't argue.

What I'M not buying about any of this is why on earth OKC would want to deal Chris Paul to the Suns without getting their first round pick.

Is the Knicks Film School the source for this DFS trade business?

Genius! He can play the 3, once they pull off that Wright/Powell/#18 for Gobert deal.

EDIT: this is the type of deal I wish I'd thought of. The creativity involved...staggering.

Well, they still save a ton of money. OKC wants Phoenix pick, but Phoenix doesn't want to give two good players and a good pick. Solution - bring in additional teams who provide the picks for those Phoenix players. So OKC saves a ton of money and gets picks.

1) Dealing Paul and not taking back long term salary means they only get 18 instead of 10....if they take long term salary they get 10.

2) I bet the guy Presti has his eye on is at 18 anyway, so he doesn't need 10....and 18 is cheaper salary.

What I'm not getting is why anyone would trade for CP3 and give up positive assets when he was just traded last year where Houston had to give up assets to get rid of him. Talk about a 36 year old turn around...

Some GM's are really dumb.

I can totally see this backfire for Phoenix badly. CP3 was not exactly known for staying healthy before last season.

Sure hope you're right! I'll be dancing around my Mavs foam finger singing Halleluka on an endless loop to make it happen, for my part...once I've got the hotline set up.

Phoenix hasnt been in the playoffs in forever.  Say what you will about CP3's contract but he did make 2nd team all NBA.

CP3
Booker
Bridges
Gallo/Grant/Milsap  (Suns currently have $18.5 million in cap space that would go down a little in a CP3 trade)
Ayton

seems like a lock to be a playoff team.

That's probably why Phoenix wants to give up next year's 1st.  It will be outside the lottery.  Plus Oubre is probably going to bounce after this year anyway.  So all they'd be giving up is a meh 2021 pick to become relevant again.

I agree, he has very far to fall, but he will sink through the end of that contract. Not sure why anyone wanted to trade for him to the Mavs also.

Phoenix will absolutely make the playoffs if they pull this off, and all indications are that Paul wants to play there. I fully expect it to happen.

How it looks when it happens? None of us know, obvs, but I sure am enjoying watching you guys squirm.

Me? I'll be fine.

I'm PREPARED!

Sure, the starting 5 looks pretty good on paper, and CP3 MIGHT whip them in shape. On the other hand, they've been doing things their way for years and maybe CP3's grandpa message doesn't get through. The other thing is their depth is pretty poor as well on top of CP3 AND Booker's injury history. When 1 or both of them go down, that will trigger the free fall down the standings.

^ If we're playing that game then when KP gets hurt again, we're left with Luka and a bunch of scrubs.

Dont forget their head coach is Monty Williams.  He and CP3 love each other.  CP3 just showed with OKC this year that he's not a problem like people were making him out to be.  He's one of the best leaders in the NBA.
