If Mavs did 25-30 mil/yr for DR they would still be able to keep THJ and add at least 1 more top 7-8 rotation piece.

Mavs in this situation are very guard heavy to say the least. That being said DR has position flex on offense so the issue is more about having enough defensive players to surround Luka/DR/THJ & Brunson. All 4 of those guys are good closers but defensively its hard to picture how you could play them all at the same time.
Also because of the money situation Rick might be inclined to start all 3 of Luka, DR and THJ or at least try it. One of them, probably Luka would sub out in the first to have Luka and DR staggered some. At any rate the roster is not perfect but at least it solves your KP problem.
