I have to say, Donnie gets a lot of flak for some of his moves over the years but when he hits, he hits big. This Luka, KP combo is really salty. That KP deal might be one of the most lopsided deals of all time. Only way Knicks can salvage it at all is if they get lucky with one of those Mavs picks.
You have to think Luka + KP is one of the best young combos in the league.
Booker + Ayton is pretty good. KAT + D'Lo is good and I really like Zion + Ingram. Embiid + Simmons is good but their pairing long-term to me is still an issue. I'd still rather have Luka + KP over any of those other combinations. I would probably pick Ingram + Zion as my next favorite as they are both super young still and extremely talented.
I LOVE finally seeing PnR with Luka / KP. We see how great it is now. It was completely ridiculous for Rick and his media parrots to say that KP shouldn't be rolling to the basket earlier in this year. It irritates me that media people just take a quote from the coach at face value and repeat it like they are so smart. Why did Rick say what he said ab KP and switches and all that? Not sure. I think it's clear tho that with Powell out there maybe for spacing purposes they needed Powell to be the primary roll man. Maybe Rick just didn't want to say that Powell can't shoot from outside and never will so he needs to be the roll guy. At any rate that chapter is behind us now. KP is not going to play with a roll man bc he has a crazy amount of space to work with when he's the 5 the majority of his minutes.
