KP was asked a premature question about a non-existent extension (at that time). I don't think I would have answered that question if I were in KP's shoes. I'm not going to speculate for you about money that may or may not be offered to me. I think Cuban stepped in to save KP from having to answer a question

True!  I still got the overall vibe that maybe Dallas wasn't KP's first choice, but you raise a very fair point about the question that Cuban intercepted.  And clearly KP is on board now, so no matter the first impression it's the contract that counts. 

BTW, regarding tampering my assumption is that Hypermav is referring to the story that the Knicks accused the Spurs of tampering with KP while he was a Knick.

Why would it have been tampering for the Knicks to deal only with the Mavericks as opposed to making him available to the highest bidder? Knicks idiocy, yes. Tampering, how so?

Only conspiracy theory I can think of is the Mavs made some deal under the table to make sure they don't go to the rest of the league. Otherwise, this would be a MC Shark Tank special where he says the deal is for now, it's off the table once you go to another team, which is perfectly legal.

That's my interpretation as well. Then there was the tweet from Shams or Woj about him potentially signing his QO on the night of the trade. Maybe that was an attempt from his camp to stop the deal from going through.

Doesn't matter though. Sometimes you have to be bold. We got our guy, he signed an extension and now we're 25+% into the season and he still hasn't torn his ACL again. It's all good so far.

Now he just has to stay healthy, stay away from nigerian chicks and stop playing like a wuss on offense.
