Damn why waive Bro? Barea or Lee should go.

What player other than the injured Luka and Powell and our two-way guys didn't play tonight? I'll hang up and listen.

Damn, never mind. Hopefully, some team will value Justin as a reclamation throw-in this summer.

Likely because Barea is a team leader, and Lee's full Bird rights offer more flexibility in S&T deals this summer.

Loyal to a fault. Barea should have retired after the injury but I guess he wanted to make one last comeback.
I like that the Mavs don´t throw injured or declining Mavs heroes like JJB under the bus but at some point they have to move on.

Bro was given an audition and couldn’t remember his lines. Sorry, kid.

Must not of been a good accountant since tax season is underway.

I really don't get this. I understand he's 29 and been a jouryneyman, but with Luka ready to win right now, you have to try to win every year.

When I look at Justin Jackson, I don't see one legit outstanding NBA skillset that he has. Broekhoff can shoot the 3 very well. Even if just 10 mins off the bench, he has a defined role and a defined elite skillset.

I think it is two things:

1) Money (JJ hits the pocketbook more).

2) Asset (JJ is still a trade asset as a 24 year old).

I hope MKG has been informed that he is TOO TALL to get playing time.....

I'm really surprised people thought Jackson was a possibility here.  That's not waiving a player, that is stretch-waiving him.

Bro can't play D, at all ,

Jackson is way better than people are saying, he is playing out of position here. I think will see a lot of MKG at the 4 now and maybe Jackson will get a shot at the a wing. Jackson runs the floor and moves with out the ball better than anyone non the team.

Justin Jackson would not be the first Maverick to be given up on by this board but then miraculously figure out how to play basketball later. JJ Barea was once trashed on this board as a young player and there have been several others. As I said the other day, I hope he has a switch in there somewhere that he figures out how to turn on soon.
This Reunion Rowdie says the AAC needs "Luka's Lunatics" for the Luka/KP and gang era.

I think the way to look at MKG and WCS is they are both basically getting an extended tryout.  It means Bro gets cut and Boban gets marginalized any time everyone is healthy.  But Bro and Bo are 11-15 types while WCS and MKG have a shot at playing a role in the regular rotation.

I think Cauley-Stein's best position is as a bench center.  You have to play him with floor spacers and I don't think we will see he and KP on the floor at the same time.  A few years ago...maybe.  But not today with so many teams playing smaller more mobile PF's.

It will be hard to play MKG at the same time WCS is on the floor as MKG needs spacing also.  I think Maxi pairs well with WCS.  As good as Maxi has been this season, he hasn't been as good since Powell went out.  Some of that is attributable to Luka being out (almost everyone plays better when Luka is there to take pressure off).  But, Powell was +11 pp100 when paired with Luka, KP, THJ and DFS.  Maxi is -5.5.  It doesn't make sense, but those are the numbers.  The issue appears to be that the offense takes a hit when Maxi and KP are on the floor together.  Maxi and Powell were actually a much better pairing (so logically Maxi and WCS should be also).

That leaves us still looking for a fifth starter.  I can actually see MKG getting almost no time except spot defensive assignments and I can see him starting in the Powell role and strengthening the bench by moving Maxi back to his more accustomed (and effective) super sub role.  The starters can use another defender and between Luka, KP, THJ and DFS the spacing is good.  It might not happen right away, but it wouldn't shock me to see Carlisle at least give this a try at some point.

WCS and MKG cannot play together if scoring is the be all end all. Seeing teams regularly treat a game against us as shooting practice, I am at the point that I can live with a 90-75 loss. At least the other team will have to fight and leave with some bumps and bruises.

This has nothing to do with Luka being out. Our record against teams over 500 was trending bad even when he was playing.

We won’t but I’d start MKG as “wing Powell”

Luka-THJ-DFS-MKG-KP
Delon-Steph-Maxi-WCS

Use JB and the JJs where needed.

Starters have two wing defenders both with ability to play some 4 defensively as well. Still have plenty of shooting.

The bench unit can have Luka, THJ or DFS on the floor with them at times and Jalen can be a situational spark.
