Game 60: Dallas Mavericks (34-25) vs Boston Celtics (46-12)

Yeah him and a few others have been really quiet.  I again will say don’t overplay him as small ball 5.  It can work.  But Gafford should have gotten more time.  Celtics were getting way too many easy looks plus hitting their threes when they ran away from Mavs.

Stay big Dallas

Just have to face the facts, until they get in the top 5-10 in defensive efficiency, as a team, they are going to have problems. Boston is top 2 in both offense and defense. Porzingis was a god send for them.

Lively needs to play. The point of the 5 out lineup is to play it against big teams like the wolves. They can’t stop it. Why are we playing this against Boston? The better lineup was big. Kidd really screwing this up

Celtics: 30 assists (and counting)
Raptors: 34 assists
Cavs: 35 assists
Pacers: 38 assists

Opponents have figured out how to shred this defense consistently now

you need top notch coaching to beat Boston, you need to have any advantage where you can.
but we have bottom of the league coaching, so there’s that.

Yeah maxi provided very little tonight.

Oh well, mavs outclassed tonight.

They are a much better team. Just need to improve on three point defense, change some of the Lineups and let these guys get familiar with each other.

Kyrie had a bad game. I don’t remember the last time he played so poorly. He will bounce back. Green is more concerning

Kidd had a stupid game plan tonight for sure. Maxi isn’t any good. The only time the Mavs played well on this road trip he didn’t play. Mavs defense struggles but there’s no excuse for the offense being pretty mid. Mavs are going to have to pull of a hell of a stretch run, dropping maybe 4 games at most the rest of the way, to have a successful regular season. I doubt a Kidd coached team can pull something like that off. He’s definitely not a good coach when he has to make decisions.

Nice turnaround jumper from Omax! He has a little Siakam to his offensive game.

THJ and Maxi need to join Powell on the bench. As long as those two keep getting minutes, we aren't winning anything.

Green scored his 1st points in garbage time.

Tough game for Green but this is his first poor shooting performance in a while. When you're a role player on this team, your offense is going to come and go since it's not like Kidd's offense is designed to do much. Same goes for DJJ as well. Their offense will be directly tied to how well Luka/Kyrie are playing and also how defenses are deciding to play them. On this road trip, it looks like the defenses have been more focused on staying home on the others and playing Luka/Kyrie 1 on 1 or with little help. That kills any ball movement.

Green is a good hustle guy, but his defense has been overrated for a while now.
Gets out of position very easily and cant nagivate screens well.

but today the team needed his offense and it was not there.

on a positive side huge game by Lively. team was really rolling when he was on the floor.
too bad he wasnt in there long enough, because, small ball. In a line up with Tillman and Horford, one of Lively and Gafford has to be in the game.

Pj washington played well and defended Tatum reasonably, he just made a lot of contested shots.
already have good chemistry with Luka. astronomically better defender than grant williams.

Mavs gave up a lot for Gafford to sit on the bench while Kleber stumbles around. Kidd. SMH. If someone goes into the doghouse it damn sure should be THJ.

Besides Kidd, it does feel like combining THJ and Green into that one two-way wing player would make the difference.

I agree. Gafford is a expensive insurance plan. Giving up what they did, might comeback to haunt them.
