Game 38: Memphis Grizzlies (13-23) vs Dallas Mavericks (22-15)
Also, Bane is still butthurt over the draft?

Good on him for getting himself and his teammates up for the game. You can tell he gets extra excited when Josh Green is guarding him.

He kinda does have scoreboard already though.

Man, I didn't need to be reminded today about the time Cuban turned the team over to his gambling buddy. Ugh.

Huh. Gambling. And Cuban just sold the franchise to casino people.

So, if Nico notices Cuban hanging out with another podcaster or gambling buddy and bringing him into the building to hang out, he should probably clean out his office.

Oh, and on Bane, I don't think many people saw him becoming what he has become. In college I think he kinda looked like he was college good, not pro good. I'm no scout though. I think Dan watched Bane live quite a bit, wonder what he thought back then.

He is better than he has played recently.  I think though it is becoming apparent he isn't best suited to be a starter on a contender.   I would take a guy who provides toughness and plays really good help D and solid on ball D.   Unfortunately his defensive breakdowns have been one of the glaring problems so far this year.
Your guess is as good as anyone elses, but a reporter is reporting it, not just you or I.

Yeah I’ve kind of been viewing him as our more physical, better defending Niang. Problem is, Niang is making 8m a year and was signed as a FA, whereas we traded an asset for Williams.

I remember 1 or 2 people floating his name around here back then. It was more about him dropping to the second round though, I think.

Man, if we had made that right choice though? He looks like what would be the perfect SG next to Luka.

This game was hard to watch and these games happen way to often for Mavs. If Luka is hurt he shoud take some games of or it will end like it did last year.

I was a fan at the time, but I had no idea he would be this good.  Thought he would develop into useful bench player.

To think a couple of simple decisions even after the KP disaster and we could have a core of Luka/Brunson/Bane and we would still have Dorian and our pick.

I liked him, but no one had him going at 18.  If you go back and read the board, most here wanted Bey at 18 with a small number liking local kid Maxey.  I remember thinking we might move up for Nesmith given the Stackhouse connection and Excel connection.  Turns out we were trying to move up, for a different guy.

I recall also proposing that we move up for Bane.  But he was projected late 20's and early 30's.  My proposal was to package 31/36 to move up into the late 20's.  He's vastly outperformed anything anyone projected for him.

Thanks, Dan! That's been my sense of things. Good for him! He's done really well for himself.

It doesn't bother me that he talks about the Mavs not taking him. He's probably just answering the question that he gets asked over and over again but also probably would have loved to stay in the DF Dub. And I'm sure the Mavs wish they would have taken him!
