Another benefit of the tank last year. Smart planning. Wink

I like Harrison Ingram that late. 6´7 SF, 7´0 wingspan, strong, maybe a little stiff in his movement and dribbling all around, but got everything the Mavs look for, rebounds, steals, defense, low turnovers. Actually reminds me a bit of Justin Anderson with better feel for the game. For a projected late 2nd round pick 58th worth a try. Seems a bit challenged vertically, but strong with a good nose for the ball.

I watched virtually no college basketball games this year. Looking at this mock though, there are a lot of guys who fit the size and position we will be looking for. Most will not stick, but several guys look to be interesting to draft and put on a two way. Maybe even an undrafted guy too.

I don't even know who is undrafted picking before the Mavs you have a few raw, several years away guys like:
Baba Miler, Dillon MItchell, Bona (a guy I liked last year in the second round), DJ Wagner (seems like too much like Hardy), Kwame Evans (interesting...saw him in the tournament...did nothing but has the right build)

They also have some older prospects who I have seen before:
Keshad Johnson, Trevon Brazile (explosive leaper but tore his ACL the year before last), Johni Broome, Zyon Pullin (guy who interests me), Coleman Hawkins (Maxi replacement without the top end defense?)

Here are some Hawkins highlights. I am not sure if he is good enough to make the NBA, but late in the second round he is an interesting height/skills guy gamble.

USC freshman Bronny James is declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft. James, 19, also is entering NCAA transfer portal to maintain flexibility. The combo guard will work out for and visit NBA teams and make a draft decision based on evaluation.

@SIChrisMannix
NBA scouts are divided on James. He has elite defensive tools but lacks the size to defend bigger guards. He showed flashes of being a strong playmaker but isn’t a traditonal point guard. His shooting was streaky. Still, he performed well given the near tragic cardiac incident he had last summer. James will go through the evaluation process before making a decision on the NBA draft.

Giovonny at ESPN had a mock a few days ago. He had Dallas taking Cam Spencer at 60. 5th year senior from UCONN. May not look the part but has a pretty crafty game.

Looked at the guy Tankathon has projected for the Mavs: Payton Sandfort. There is no way I take a 24 year old PG in Spencer over a 21 year old SF in Sandfort. I actually love Sandfort for the Mavs. We need a play-making/shooting SF to replace THJ long-term, if we believe in the development of O-Max and Hardy, not some TJ McConnell.

I get Sandfort´s physical limitations, but he´s 6´7 and can shoot it like a white dude. Wink  91% from the FT line in college. 38% from 3 on high volume, shot looks smooth as silk, even off the dribble, excellent unselfish passer from what I have seen. Probably useless finishing at the rim, due to his lack of strength and athletic ability. I mean that really sucks for us, since we don´t have Luka, Kyrie, Gafford, Lively and Jones to do that for us. Big Grin

The guy is basically everything I look for on our current roster. We have defense covered with everybody else from SF to C. We need somebody that can shoot the lights out. Imho if you give that kid open looks off Luka and Kyrie, he knocks down close to 40% in his rookie season.

Gives me Parsons vibes, hopefully with better knees and back.

Watching the title game tonight. Spencer looks small but is 6-4. He’s crafty. Good footwork. Wouldn’t be a bad 2nd rounder. Apparantly the UConn center has a higher draft grade than Edey. Edey is dominating him. Looks bigger, faster, more skilled. I don’t get that one.

Was looking at the Mock draft a little earlier and I swear it was like a NBA2k draft board with madeup names

Looked at a few highlight tapes and no one looked special
Truly a year for the Wizards to get the #1 pick

This looks like a draft, where you gain little from having the top picks, but you´ll probably find some value down the board, when prejudices prevail (too old, unathletic etc.)

I´m surprised Melvin Ajinca ranks so low in this weak draft (2nd round). He´s also injured and won´t participate in any predraft workouts. Did we give Alexis a championship ring for 2011? Maybe Dirk told his nephew to shut it down and let´s stay home. Wink

Anyway I´m always impressed, when a young kid leads a 2nd division team to promotion against grown men and earns POTY in the process. I seem to remember a certain Dirk Nowitzki doing the same in Germany. Also had a good youth FIBA U19 tournament for France, leading scorer on their silver medal team. His game seems pretty raw, but he clearly has the physical tools. More on the gamble/project side, but at 6´8 another positoinal fit.

Then I´d say his comparison is Isaac Bonga, and we could always sign the ready made version next summer as Dante Exum 2.0. Tongue

I'm seeing Edey as a less skilled Boban. Top college center, bottom of the roster NBA player.

I don't know why but this guy looks like a smaller version of shawn marion. Just an all around energy guy who can get rebounds.

This would be an awesome shooting guard draft pick for the mavericks.

There was another post about the draft, but no big deal. I hardly watched any college basketball. I am not sure of the foreigners, but this appears to be a very weak draft up top. I will be surprised if there are many all star selections from this draft (again, I have no idea about the foreigners). But like most draft, I think there will be several good nba players in this draft. Maybe not all starters, but there is talent there. You just need to find it.

I have seen Kyle Filipkowski in the 20's in mocks. I know the limitations and he may very well struggle. I just think he is going to be a solid NBA player. He may be between positions but he is big and skilled. Well worth a gamble in the 20's

Hey I'm always down with a draft thread! I can merge the two easily too.

I need to read up on guys this year because outside of March Madness I didn't watch a lick of college ball all year. I know that Edey guy was good though!

6'7. Barrels to the rim. I can see why he'd fit well. I'm concerned with his athleticism, namely lateral movement. He definitely can shoot some spot up threes.

His competition wasn't the greatest either. I suppose we're not looking for the best guys anyways with the last pick in the draft...
