Well, that and the combo of his height, length and release (not the fastest) make it difficult to get shots off in useful volumes. And, the defense, of course.

Honestly, I’m happy Seth is back, and if means a Bullock or THJ trade for something they NEED, fine. But, Hardaway is a much better player than Curry, tbh.

Yes THJ is the better player.  I would assume any trade with THJ says much more about Hardy than it would Curry.

We will see if the Mavs have anything else lined up.  If the plan was to sign Curry and then see what opens up, I would be a little less excited.

Players I would have preferred who actually fill a need:

Keita Bates-Diop (2yr $5m)
Jalen McDaniels (2yr $9.3m)
Taurean Prince (1yr $4.5m)
Jock Landale (1yr $7.4m guaranteed)
Drew Eubanks (2yr $5m)
Trey Lyles (2yr $16m)

Kieta Bates-Diop was on my list for us to snag. He would have been a rotation piece at the 3/4 similar to OMP but I think Prosper is a better player. PHO saw him and focused on him day one. Watanabe DITTO.

They both could have filled that hole behind OMP. Shooting 40% or so on 3's as well and Phoenix snagged them both. CHEAP!!!! and both are better than what we added after getting Kyrie back.

Irvings buddy Seth is not a problem but he is not a guy you can play heavy minutes all the time because his defense sucks so he is the last in line for playing time.

starters 35 minutes a game
Luka
Irving
_____________

Young guns most of any remaining minutes
Hardy
Green
_____________

Vets needing to be moved
THJ
Bullock
_____________

Vets that are new
Seth offense needed use Seth
Exum defense needed then use Dante

Kidd will probably be more willing to play Hardy and Green off the bench when Luka and Irving rest so these last spots are not as important and more geared to be specialists. @way guys like Lawson and the 2 PG's who earn those other 2 spots will be development projects that we bring up some. I Like Lawson and he can hit 3's and Miles could be a find at PG. These guys deserve a look at least and we can certainly use them in emergencies when injuries happen.

The size and shooting we could have had is going to be there in Phoenix with that teams stacked roster helping them and we could have gotten them. Much better upside and defensive potential since KBD and Yuta are both 6'8.

Curry wasn't on my list at all.  I think a lot of it depends on what other moves are made to clear up the logjam.  Here is the Athletic grade on the move though.

Great values of the day
Seth Curry agrees to two-year deal with the Mavericks
I can’t believe Curry essentially received a two-year deal for less than $10 million. The Mavs need defensive players, and Curry won’t give them that. However, he’s one of the best shooters in basketball, and he’s going to be a great floor spacer next to Dončić and Irving. Other teams should have been pining for his services. This ends up an absolute steal.

Grade: A+

Curry just blocks Hardy IMO. He's redundant.
