Trade & FA 2023-24: Stein-Ingram Trade Inevitable| LAL Want Lebron Back On Any Terms

Would have to wait until January 15th for it to be legal.

Quick thoughts behind this.
Pushes Powell all the way to the end of the bench. We have 48 mins of proper center play and can still play 5 out.
We get off of Holmes.
Kyrie craziness is gone and replaced with another all-star who is 3 years younger.
LAL provides all the picks to the Bulls
Mavs keep their 2027 first

Hard no on Lavine.  I'd rather THJ for way less than half the price.

To include Holmes, you have to add the 27FRP.

LAL isn't going to trade 3 out of their top 6-man rotation for Kyrie.

I love Rui, was screaming for the Mavs to trade for him last year.

Vuc is great, but with his contract, we need someone who can play PF with Lively on the court at the same time.  Zach Collins IMO is perfect, but he seems to be a great pair with Wemby.

IMO, Gwill is a great platoon guy at F for a championship team.  He's not a starter on a championship team.  My dream is using THJ, Hardy, Maxi, DJJ, Morris, and 27FRP to get Z.Collins and T.Eason...

8-man Rotation
Point: Luka, Kyrie, Exum
Guard: Kyrie, Green
Forward: Eason, GWill
Power: Collins, GWill, Eason
C: Lively, Collins

Kuzma is a much worse defender than Grant and a worse shooter from 3...his skills do not fit at all in an ISO offense led by KI/Luka

DP may be the better screen setter and lob finisher, but other than that and overall I think Theis is the better player and that's not even a shot a DP.

However, an entirely different question would be, who is the better player for our team.

I'd argue there is hardly another bench big that could replace DP equally at this point.
Looking at his game last night, do you still think DP is better than Theis?

Theiss is a perfect example of a player that plays with physicality. Clippers are a much better team with him, imho. Mavs could certainly use a guy or two like him.

19 points and 7 rebounds in his second game against the Spurs, Clippers are 2-0 with Theis on the team.

He’s much better than Powell and would’ve been a perfect fit for us with his ability to space the floor.

Sorry for doubling up on your post, I had the same idea of bringing this discussion back.

Definitely, we could have used him for sure.

Agree to disagree, I suppose.

Seems like Theis has been in danger of losing his spot in the league lately, to me. Glad he's got a chance in LA though!

Yes, he hardly played since being traded to the Pacers last season.
But that's not because he can't play, but because Pacers (obviously) prefer to play their younger players. To quote RC: “He’s a pro,” [...] I have no problems with Theis. The guy won the World Cup this summer, he came in and had a good training camp and things have fallen the way things have fallen.” (https://www.fieldhousefiles.com/p/source...-on-buyout)

So to me Pacers management lost their gamble when they thought they could use him for trade activities, as he was clearly never in their plans. His market was probably not too big with his pricetag and age.
But I believe he is a great fit for the Clippers and mark my words: if they go far in the Playoffs, then only because of his contributions.

He's a role player.  If the Clippers have a successful season, it will be because of Kawhi, Paul George and James Harden.  Theis will probably be their 3rd-string center when Plumlee returns.

He may have been able to help us in a backup role though.  I don't think he's better than Dwight Powell but he is more physical and would have been a good option to have on the bench.  He probably would have fared better against Sabonis than DP did.  I think he's definitely better than Markieff Morris and could have been useful for us.

And Powell isn't tittering on not being an NBA player?  On the other 29 rosters, Powell is 14th at best.

I try to ignore the noise, but this a troll level comment.

Speaking of selling high...

omahen made a great point of what types of players good teams, bad teams, and up-and-coming teams target+let go. Orlando is desperate for shooting. They wasted a lottery pick on Jett Howard because they were so desperate for a 3pt sniper.

We know THJ interested them in the past. With that in mind what about breaking THJ into smaller parts and taking flyers on 2 younger guys.

[Image: Hx5mMgTMJmNpAAAAAElFTkSuQmCC.png?ex=6570...height=648]

Okeke has completely fallen out of the Magic rotation. He's averaged 3mpg and is stuck behind Banchero and Franz. Those guys aren't going anywhere.

I know we all rave about Jonathan Isaac, but the real point of attack defender I'm targeting on the Magic is Suggs. The dude has the makings of Alex Caruso except younger. He can't shoot but he can defend. Okeke is the Maxi starter kit. Suggs also is behind a couple of other guys with the Magic just having drafted Anthony Black and having Cole Anthony on the bench as well.

The 1st can either be the 2025 1st that's from Denver protected 1-5 (likely low 20s) or the complicated 2026 swap mess with PHX and WAS. Either are pretty low ish value.

Mavs can now go shopping with 2025+2027 for an actual big wing like OG and not be afraid to throw guys like Hardy/Green/Maxi in since they have Suggs and Okeke on the bench.

Orlando basically pays a late 1st and an excess rotation player for their ideal scoring guard who has a history with their HC. This really cleans up both rosters in my eyes and the price feels fair.
14x All-Star, 12x all-NBA, 1x MVP, 1x Finals MVP, 1 NBA Championship: Dirk Nowitzki, the man, the myth, the legend.

Great thing is we won’t have to wait long to see them match up head-to-head since we‘ll play the Clippers on Saturday. It‘s not really fair because Theis has only spent a couple of days with his new team compared to a lot of years for Powell, but I‘ll still bet on him any day of the week, simply because he throws his whole body into the opponent and not just his pretty face like Dwight.

Theis > DP and it is not close!!!

I dont know, maybe my "hate" for DP is to much, otherwise i cant see anything what other Players couldnt do.

Ok he can set good screens and is a fav in the lockerroom, BUT we are an NBA Team that wants to win as many games as possible and even the championship. We cant hold on players only because they are nice and likeable...

Time to put a little more hardcore in our Managment. --> If u can play, stick, if you cant play- go.

Its seems hard, but thats the way to get the damn ring back and dont loose Luka over the next years.

Name 5 teams where Powell would break the top 13.

I would love to have Jalen Suggs on the Mavericks.  He's the best perimeter defender in the NBA not named Alex Caruso.  His shooting is markedly improved and he is improving as a secondary playmaker.  He's also only 22 years old.

Unfortunately, he is not available for trade.  I have a moonshot bet on the Magic to win the championship so I've watched most of their games.  He's not only started every game this season but has been their best overall player so far this season.  He's the engine behind one of the NBA's best defenses. They see their top 3 as Banchero, Franz Wagner and Suggs.

They wouldn't trade Suggs in a THJ trade even if we were the team including the 1st round pick.

They could really use THJ as they need a better wing shooter than Joe Ingles.  We could probably get some draft capital in a Gary Harris and Goga Bitadze trade for THJ.  I think the Mavs might consider that deal as it would free up some minutes to develop Jaden Hardy and give us a better backup center.   I'm not sure the Magic would give up a 1st though.

Very much agree. What is the status of G.Harris? Is he injured? They really liked him last season but didn't see him play this one.
