Yuck.

Would never trade up for him, but would not be averse to the Mavs taking him at 18 if they believe he's the best available. I don't think he's ever a starter on a Luka-led team, which would be my biggest problem with him. But he'd be an upgrade on Brunson for sure.

On raw talent for sure... But Anthony is completely inefficient and frankly doesn't look like that good of a player. At least RJ was like that in the pros ha. He's also small and no reason to think he's going to be a good defender.

I think Brunson is criminally underrated here. I think in time he could late bloom and be one of the undersized PG players that are really good like the Raptors guys. He is a true pg that runs the offense well and has a nice touch. If he improves his shooting just bit, I see 0 reason he won't be averaging double digits within the next 2 years with appropriate playing time. Guys like Brunson that are undersized almost always take a few years to really get going in the NBA. They figure out how to use their size to their advantage is my theory ha.

You don't draft a player based on defense in this era tbh.
MKG has been always a great defender but now he can barely stay in the league.
Good defenders won't be used if they are nonexistent on offense, but players who are good on offense will get enough minutes to develop as defenders.
Bolmaro isn't a guy I am sure he will get minutes here with his very limited offense.

C'mon man, let's not assume these guys don't know how to shoot or play offense (I could be way wrong, but I actually feel they probably become better than him on O and they already are on D). Green is an athletic slasher, 40% on C&S and Bolmaro would actually RUN our backup unit (yes, primary ball-handler). Players that are good on defense will also get minutes to develop their offensive game. As I've said, the only thing going for him is his shooting. No other desirable skill (no playmaking, no defense, only there to shoot the rock, I'm not that deep to know his mid-range/off the bounce stats, but shouldn't be amazing from video).

Terry on the other hand, I'm very high on. Not from hs shooting (also great), but his playmaking in that motion offense in Stanford. As I've said, most of Nesmith's game revolves around off screens shots and we don't run many of those here (rarely one or two for Seth). If Green can hit close to 40% on C&S (most of our shots are wide-open C&S) and is a way better defender, it's a done deal.

Terry is pretty much my favorite guard in the draft apart from Hayes and Haliburton (Ball and Edwards might be better than all three, but the Mavs aren't getting them, and there's quite a bit not to like).

Zach Lowe on picks

I would bet against any team trading a first-round pick for cash (and the required token second-rounder) -- something that hasn't happened since Denver traded the pick that became Gobert in 2013 -- but given economic uncertainty, I'd expect some teams toward the bottom of the first round to try to exchange those picks for roughly equivalent future picks. We will see some second-rounders sell for cash.

The issue with selling 1st rounders this year is half of them are traded. and almost all of them are with NBA franchises with deep pocket books.  Boston x2, NYK, Lakers plus Toronto make up final 5 picks. Toronto at pick 29 is the only one on the table that might get sold. Now you might see cash plus early 2nd to move up move. Or something similar of very minor value.

Quote:11. San Antonio Spurs: Devin Vassell (Florida State, SF, Sophomore)

Vassell is getting looks from teams in the top 10, including the Golden State Warriors. But Williams and Lewis moving up the board could lead to Vassell falling to the Spurs. And they could use a three-and-D wing for a core that features ball-handlers and scoring guards.

Quote:12. Sacramento Kings: Killian Hayes (Ratiopharm Ulm, PG, 2001)

League sources say the Kings are putting extra stock into analytics, and Hayes could be their target. While he's not a clean fit next to De'Aaron Fox, he has a case as the best player available with 6'5" size, advanced passing skills, a soft floater and pull-up game, improved shot-creation moves and promising defensive instincts.

Quote:13. New Orleans Pelicans: Saddiq Bey (Villanova, SF/PF, Sophomore)

Bey made plenty of NBA fans this season by shooting 45.1 percent from three, but he has even more support heading into the draft after interviews. His shot-making off spot-ups and screens could be useful to a lineup that already has creators and scorers.

Quote:14. Boston Celtics (via Memphis Grizzlies): Precious Achiuwa (Memphis, C, Freshman)

With three picks in the first round, the Celtics could put together some creative trade proposals. But if they stick at No. 14, Achiuwa makes sense as a target given the team's history of going after highly rated high school prospects and its need for frontcourt athleticism and defensive, switchable bigs.

Quote:15. Orlando Magic: Aaron Nesmith (Vanderbilt, SF, Sophomore)

Some scouts see the draft's top shooter in Nesmith, who could be a target for Orlando if a point guard doesn't fall. He'd have a chance to play immediate minutes in a lineup that could use more wings and shot-making.

Quote:18. Dallas Mavericks: Desmond Bane (TCU, SG, Senior)

The interest in Bane seems to be contagious. Word around the league is that Dallas is trying to trade this pick for a wing and immediate help. But the Mavericks are also high on Bane, and they could draft him to add shooting and high-IQ passing and defense.

Quote:24. Milwaukee Bucks (via Indiana Pacers): RJ Hampton (New Zealand Breakers, PG/SG, 2001)

Hampton's shooting remains a key swing skill, but the Bucks could deem it worth betting on this late given what a jump shot could do for an explosive, 6'5" ball-handler. Until his three-ball and pull-up jumper improve, he'll add value by attacking in transition, getting downhill off ball screens and adding secondary playmaking.

Quote:29. Toronto Raptors: Tyler Bey (Colorado, PF, Junior)

A 43.5" max vertical highlights Bey's athleticism, which he uses for finishing and covering ground defensively. Showcasing enough shooting touch in workouts could lead to first-round interest from the Raptors, who worked out Bey last week and may need frontcourt depth.

Quote:30. Boston Celtics (via Milwaukee Bucks): Leandro Bolmaro (Barcelona, SG/SF, 2000)

Though the Celtics are expected to be busy exploring trades with their three first-round picks, drafting and stashing Bolmaro would make sense if they keep No. 30. He's been quiet with Barcelona's senior team over the past month, but he's drawn NBA attention over the years with his playmaking and defense for a 6'7" wing.

Quickley and Ty-Shon are very special shooters, hope the Mavs grab one in the second round (or even undrafted).

And if that happens and it's not a star (which is won't be, because our picks won't net a star), then all signs point to Scott41theMavs having an entertainingly epic meltdown.

Less than two weeks away from the 2020 NBA draft, the Golden State Warriors are reportedly targeting Anthony Edwards with the No. 2 overall pick.

Per Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle, the Warriors believe Edwards has the potential to "blossom into a face of a franchise and multi-time All-Star if put in the right situation" and "would likely" select the Georgia star if he's available.
Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...

 • Former Memphis big man Precious Achiuwa worked out for the Wizards earlier this week and is working out for the Celtics on Friday, according to Adam Zagoria of Forbes (Twitter link). Achiuwa is the 12th overall prospect on ESPN’s big board, so both Washington at No. 9 and Boston at No. 14 could in play for him.

My gut is that if they are serious about this draft then we won't get much if anymore news on their workouts.
