DRAFT: #18 [Green] & #31 [Terry] & trade for #36 [Tyler Bey]

Listen to this and tell me this kid doesn’t sound like a Maverick.

I have posted interviews with him over the last few months and he is a great interview. Seems like a very solid kid and it also feels to me that he would fit with the Mavs really well.

DRAFT DATA is in!!!

Trae Young: 6'0.5" w/o shoes, 6'3" wingspan

Tyrell Terry: 6'1.5" w/o shoes, 6'1.75" wingspan

I am OUT on Terry....too small and not enough on tape IMO to make up for it.

Terry has grown to 6'3 this offseason and added 15 pounds of muscle. He's not a big guard but he's not Trae Young Tiny. He's also more athletic. He'll never guard more than a PG for sure... But I think he's actually going to translate to be a decent defender with solid athleticism.

His profile actually measures up to what Curry was coming out giving an inch on the wingspan and about 10 pounds.

Thanks for the draft info. That said, Terry's pretty high up my board, and if no one I have ranked over him is available at 18 and he is, then, love ya man, but I hope I get to gloat over your disappointment.

If you're not 6'4", show them the door.

Listening to the latest episode of the Lowe Post with Schmitz and Givony and they said Hayes could fall out of the lottery. The only buzz on teams that really like him is Chicago at 4 and Detroit at 7.

Surely he doesn't get past the Spurs tho who love their foreign guards ha.

I wonder if someone like Hayes is why the Mavs are exploring moving up? Perhaps a guy they are hoping falls a bit and they can trade up to go get. Hayes would make a lot of sense. He's going to be a star if he becomes a good shooter.

If we turn Powell(almost deadweight), Wright(Slightly more deadweight), Jackson (actually a CBA player in disguise), and 2 of our more productive role players in Maxi+THJ

For CP3+Gallo+14(I assume Bey)+25(Bane?). What a haul that'd be. It'd hurt to see Maxi go, since I see him as a lynchpin to this teams defense. But getting the point god to run off ball on Luka, and replacing Maxi with Gallo is a heck of an improvement.

Doing so effectively takes us out of the Giannis race unless we somehow flip 36 year old expiring CP3 next offseason to a team run by incompetent dupes.

Great stuff. I'm OUT on T. Alexander, can't have those results and expect him to be an on-ball defender (fat/agility killed him), despite great numbers on college the NBA is another level. Green and Bey showing that freakish athleticism is awesome. Sucks that most guys didn't participate, would clear a lot of stuff on the lottery guys.

He has grown to 6'1.5" this offseason was just officially measured at the Combine.

His fat level is a little concerning, but he could always get a professional diet.

His shuttle time was good....his lane agility was average. I am still in on him as a 2nd round pick (with better numbers I would have graded him as a 1st rounder possibly).

That is what I have been speculating the last month. I think Hayes would be their target. Just an educated guess.

EDIT: unless Vassell makes it to the very late lottery, somehow.
I don't buy the hype surrounding that kid.

His game seems basic to me, he jumps well but not that explosive in terms of quickness and ability to change direction, average ball handling and below average shooter. Not the most elie passer either.

6'1.5 without shoes is typically 6'3 in shoes.

What's the shorthand for a given player's height? With shoes, or without shoes? Apples to apples, and we're good.

7 days until the draft.

  1. 18. Dallas Mavericks: Tyrese Maxey, SG, KentuckyDallas has star power and depth, so it could go any number of directions here. Rather than focusing solely on upside or instant impact, the Mavs might split the difference with Maxey, a defense-driven guard who might be the next Wildcat to show substantial growth at the NBA level.

If they're going to say that "without shoes is the new baseline," then to me, for it to be apples to apples, the height measurements of all past and present players need to be given as without shoes for discussion of their height.

In short, no, Kamm, you don't get to bag Terry for being a certain without-shoes height by comparing him to any other NBA player based on his with-shoes height. Not even once.

If I ever do that please tell me. I try to always be super consistent about always comparing apples to apples.

Thanks. I know I was a little strong; just trying to defend my guy. The issue is, I'm pretty sure that all of the heights given on NBA.com and ESPN.com are with shoes. If I'm right on that, then you would have to look at Terry's with-shoes height to compare him to current players.
