I know it's not really comparing apples to apples, but I do feel it its still a fair question (maybe equivalent to comparing apples to peaches?):

Could the Ben Simmons' mental shooting issue have a similar result to the other #1 former Philly pick Markelle Fultz? Markelle also left the 76ers as having a mentally broken shot, but I think all agree he did improve with Orlando (though him tearing his ACL was an extreme set back sadly). I already admit that Fultz is still not a three point sniper with the Magic, but he was a way better Free Throw taker and overall better and more confident shooter. Could Ben Simmons make similar gains (if not more) by getting out of apparently toxic (at least for him) Philadelphia?

For Reference on Fultz (ORL 19/20 really was his only full season):
18/19 PHI: 19 G; .432 eFG%; .419 FG% / 8.2 FGA; .286 3P% / 0.7 3PA; .432 2P% / 7.4 2PA; .568 FT% / 1.9 FTA

The hard part there is that he doesn't want to do that because if he gets fouled, he has to shoot free throws. Even in driving to the hole, you can't get away from shooting at some point. It's just a question of how far away are you going to do it.

It's going to be 15 feet from the basket, at least, unless you always pull up for 8 footers and don't get fouled.

Leaving aside Simmons fantasy trades for just a moment, perhaps a different aspect. If Simmons gets traded to Sacramento to "form a big three" with Fox and Haliburton or to Minnesota and form a big three with Edwards and Towns, do you see those two teams become playoff contenders?

I think POR is WAY better if Simmons goes there for CJ McCullom AND I think PHI is better.

That's an interesting point. Maybe, but to me, they are two different types of wrong at this point.

I think that Fultz's shot was broken in summer league it seemed...and no one saw that coming. He shot 40% from the floor in the SL in 17-18 and people thought he was the rock solid lock to come in ready to play.

People knew Simmons wasn't a great shooter, but figured he'd improve, and now after 4-5 years, he's actually gotten arguable worse and best case, only slightly better. Slight percentage increase, seemingly not as confident, which is strange.

I think it definitely puts both of them from outside the playoffs to solidly inside the playoffs, but I hesitate to throw around "contender", because I use that usually to say that someone can actually win the title, and I don't think those teams couldn't.

I think in the playoffs, you'd see the same things that you see in Philly, only not as good, because I don't think those teams are as good around him.

I absolutely think Simmons can fix his shot if he left Philly.

The thing is, unlike Fultz, I believe that there are only a handful of places that would get through to the prima donna that is Simmons.

Should he go to a glitzy city like LA/GSW/NYK/MIA then I truly believe he'll develop and improve. Anywhere else I don't think will motivate him enough to evolve as a player.

Not too sure if SAC is 1 Ben Simmons away from breaking through.

Minny on the other hand I could see becoming a force. It all really depends if KAT and DLo decide to actually lock in defensively and play winning basketball. Edwards needs to also mature a bit, but he had a solid rookie season. Their new coach had them playing close to .500 ball near the end of last seasons so I could see them making a small jump enough to the play-in.

I hope Simmons stays East though.

I think the answer to that depends on whether you think Simmons is 'fixable' or not. If his offense (not just his shooting but his aggression and mindset) can get to borderline all-star level to match his phenomenal physical abilities and all-NBA defense, then maybe. If what you saw this last playoffs is the Ben Simmons we'll see from now on, then he might help get either of those two teams to the playoffs each year--but they'll be an easy first-round out every year as well.

I think that would be a big addition for both teams, for sure. And I also believe it would elevate them into playoff contention on paper. But to be honest, I also think the issues in Sacramento and Minnesota run deeper than the players on the floor. They've had top young talent for a while and still find ways to lose.

BTW, I also suspect that Minnesota would prefer to give up Edwards before DLo. That would be a moronic basketball decision, of course. But DLo's relationship with Simmons is one of the primary reasons that they're on his radar at all.
