Behind a paywall.

Any chance on getting a summary? I think all Mav's fans know Maxi has grown over the last few years and seems to bring real value to the team.

“With Dwight out and Willie being unavailable, we’re going to be a little small and we’re going to have to adjust that way,” head coach Rick Carlisle said. “We don’t mind adjustments and challenges. In my 12 years here so far, a lot of it has been trying to take adversities and turn them into positives, so we’re looking forward to it.”
From a roster standpoint, that leaves the Mavericks light on true big men. Carlisle has done things like play relatively big small forwards (Dorian Finney-Smith is one) at power forward. But it really comes down to Porzingis, Kleber and Boban Marjanovic. While Marjanovic is a beloved presence and quality depth piece, he’s more of the traditional center than the new-age big man of the NBA. Porzingis is great, but he can’t play 48 minutes.
That means Kleber is expected to shoulder the most responsibility he’s had since entering the NBA. What can be expected of him based on his usage and play in the last few weeks before the NBA hiatus on March 11th? Let’s take a look."

The article basically shows individual snippets of video showing Kleber playing with and without Porzingis.  How effective he is and really shows the clever offensive strategy the Mavs have to break down the defense.  I would love to copy it all and past it in but I feel like that would be no bueno.  I like The Athletic as much as any source on the Mavs and would encourage a subscription.  I know several here have access to the information.  Saad Yousef is the writer and I have been impressed with the last couple of posts.  He did one recently on Seth Curry that was well written.  Tim Cato is the other main contributor.

There is a page for a free 30 day trial for up to 5 people.  All I have to do is put in your email address.  If anyone wanted to try it out.

I could also post a unique link.  I would only get 5 of those as well.   I sound like a shill for them lol.

I must have missed MKG was not in Orlando.  I guess I was not paying attention.

Mejri would help if he was available...Anyone knows where he's at ?
Our bench is much too thin now (D.Powell,J.Brunson,C.Lee,Cauley-Stein are out) .Compare with the Clippers ...it's crazy !
The Mavs still need to add some quality players ...

Good breakdown.  Shows the value of Curry among the starters.  Of course, Powell as a starter was part of an historically good O also.  But, Curry's ball handling and incredible outside shooting brings something more valuable than a lob threat at crunch time.  Playoff D can stop a lob threat.  Not sure they can stop 45% shooting from 3.

Curry as a starter will be an interesting thing to watch.  If it clicks, then where do you go to improve the starters?  Probably not Luka, KP or THJ.  That leaves DFS?  It is pretty hard to find a plus defender who can hit 44% of his corner 3's (and .374% overall).  I screened for players 6'7" or taller who hit .374 on 3's and take at least 40% of their shots from behind the arc.  If you rank by WinScore, Kleber and DFS rank 6th and 7th in WS among 33 qualifiers.  Ahead of them are Gallinari (UFA), KAT, Anunoby, Bjelica and Duncan Robinson.  FA's on the list include Bertans 13 and Marcus Morris 14.

I still maintain (as I did before the season) that Curry is the third most important player on this team. His shooting is simply irreplaceable. He is basically one of the best pure shooters in all of NBA history (at least top 5?) and solid in most other aspects. That is just too important for unlocking Luka/KP's full potential. I honestly am not sure there is any possible way to upgrade what Curry brings to the table. I hope the Mavs see that and don't get too cute in trying to upgrade the roster. I like THJ's current fit with this team, but he is much easier to upgrade than Curry IMO.

I'm liking this team a lot right now. With Dwight out and Brunson hurt, that's shortened the rotation and messed up some of the parings, but I'm thinking we need a few more rotation guys and this team is in competition. This is all about letting them grow together and learn to win together. They seem to be having fun in Orlando. If they can stay loose and comfortable together, surprises are in store.

Start: Luka/THJ/DFS/KP with 5th determined by competition
Bench Mob: Seth, JB, Maxi, DP, ?  - Adujsted by whoever starts
Closing:Luka/KP/DFS/Seth with 5th matchup determined.

Team Goal of 80+ FT%.
I think it's important to draft well this year to get another contributor on a rookie deal. Two would be nice, but one for sure.
Wouldn't lose a lot of sleep chasing FAs. I think the Mavs are going to be a destination if they just keep having success.

But maybe I've been CV cooped up for too long and lost perspective.

Good to see -- Have a feeling like we're going to need all the warm bodies we can get in Orlando. Would have been good to have time from the jump for MKG to get aquainted with Carlisle's system given there was no room for that during the regular season,.
