2021 FREE AGENCY: Markkanen wants out of CHI | DAL "definitely interested"

As what was said right from the beginning, getting Collins would be a major coup.

I don't think he's a perfect solution to anything, but I DO believe he's a "young, foundational piece you could put next to Luka."

You're damn right!

JC all along, baby!

They will probably try to keep Boban every season for the rest of his career

This is news.

And if true, it would infer that any Dragic acquisition is likely either
(a) after a possible buyout, for minor money, or
(b) in an over-cap deal, perhaps wrapped into the Lowry sign-and-trade. That would be something like Powell + ________ (Burke works!). For TOR, the benefit of sending him elsewhere would be to get better cost efficiency (playable role players), vs flushing cash in a buyout (a rumored alternative), and dealing with Dallas might come from the short line of teams interested in Lowry making 19.4.

Does Orlando have cap space?  Do the league a solid and offer him the max.

Honestly at this point I don't even care. Give Collins the max. Figure it out later.

Also, His 20/21 wasn't far off the pace of his 19/20, and wasn't a "falling off a cliff". Lastly, the hope is that he meets a need, specifically, secondary playmaking and vet leadership, which is especially important for the Mavs in fourth quarter.

I don't think anyone would argue that Dragic at this stage of his career is a marquee get. It's just one move that fills a need and still, based on reports and speculation, still leaves room for more moves.

I did not compare him to Burke.  I simply showed that "performing well in the bubble" is not a terribly reliable indicator of future performance.  His advanced stats tanked last year (counting status not as much).  This move would have made a lot of sense 2 years ago.  Not as much now.  Lets see what assets Miami sends to Toronto and what we do.  Those assets will be to pay the price of that negative contract.

Atlanta is obviously not giving JC the max....so how bad do you want him?

I'm with Atlanta, I don't see him as a max player.  On the plus side, he's young and talented which sounds 1000x better than giving Lowery the same money.

Wait, Powell+Burke for Dragic is a salary match?  That would definitely change the game.  I could definitely live with a THJ + Dragic + TPE + MLE offseason.

Why would Toronto take Powell + Burke instead of Dragic?

Perhaps Burke and 2nd rounder to fourth team. Still not sure why would Toronto take Powell instead of Dragic.
