I just caught up on 40 pages. Here's my grand plan

1. Derozan 4/100
2. Trade Powell for Dragic

3.Trade for Hield
3 1/2. Trade for Lauri in some fashion.

.

Win the championship.

Yeah something like sign Markkanen, trade KP to Cleveland for Allen/Sexton.

Though wasn´t KP back in Dallas already?

Hinton is back in Dallas playing with Kidd. Gets the QO.
Nothing heard on the Tyler Bey front. NO QO apparently.
WCS is in Dallas working out with Tyrell Terry. Gets his option picked up.
Dwight Powell is usually the first player back at the Mavs facilities in the summer, not this year? We here Powell trade rumours.
Maybe Maxi/Brunson hang out together in New York, because they are traded for Spencer Dinwiddie RJ Barrett. Big Grin

One of them is going to be gone via trade, I would bet a lot of money on it.

Maybe both?

That would be an attempt to field the worst defense in the NBA.

I'd take that bet.  I just don't think we have a great asset or asset pair to pool with what it would cost to move DP.  I'm working on the assumption that it would take more than a SRP.  Brunson is far more useful to return an asset than a salary dump.

I have just come to the realization that I need Dwight just like the Joker needs Batman.

Well, there's at least one PG not linked to Dallas. https://twitter.com/TheNBACentral/status...8309489665

You are on.

If neither KP or DP are traded by the start of camp I will change my title to "I Was Wrong." If one of them is traded then you have to change your title to "I Was Wrong."

Assuming that is true, they must have some specific plan in mind, which requires the additional capspace?

My "Old MBT" brain tells me, they are trying to generate more capspace to pitch Lowry/DeRozan a package deal.

My "New MBT" brain does not have enough information yet.

Done.  If we pay THJ, it's a fun double entendre for me.

If we get THT, I need a double title.

Love the post cow cow, but if coach suited up he'd still be a better defender than all those udes.

In the modern league, there are maybe three PREMIUM players who are foreign born. One of them is here already. Another was clearly the target of the longterm free agency plans here but opted to re-sign with his team and just won a championship. The other is free when, 2023?

My point is, if the Mavs lean further into the Euro connection, I don't think that jives with the free agency splash plan. I agree that getting the best Euros here isn't a bad strategy, I just have this feeling Cuban won't be satisfied until he lands his legendary big fish.

I am not only talking about europe. Africa is the next big thing. Already started. More and more players in the league each year (as of now most of them bigs with incredible physical attributes). They don´t have the european development systems and strong national leagues. Meaning that most of them will try to make it in the NBA.

Looking at the current free agent market I could easily upgrade the roster around Luka without signing a single american player. Add the local guys and the pool gets even bigger.

Locals: Smart, Culver, maybe Turner, extend the range a little bit and Caruso is an option as well.
International: Fournier, Markkanen, Theis, Ntilikina, Schroder, Olynyk, Kanter

And I probably forgot some names. If the Mavs would turn into the premier destination for those players things would be a lot easier.

If this is true, it's an interesting development. The Bucks have no way to offer him more than the taxpayer MLE ($5.xM). That means he's in play to someone.

Isn't he competing for the same openings and money as Holmes? Are there enough teams with that sort of money (or more) for a center, or not?

Maybe Portis isn't gonna get 15M, but isn't he worth at least a full MLE (which is 4 yrs $42M)? Neither Holmes nor Portis can be acquired via sign-and-trade, which limits the competition considerably, when you get past the MLE.

If you took the least expensive of the two, what would that cost? If you could get rid of Powell, isn't either of them a significant upgrade?

How about a Dragic for Powell trade?

This is astute.
