2021 FREE AGENCY: Markkanen wants out of CHI | DAL "definitely interested"
(08-05-2021, 11:32 AM)haveitall Wrote: This is the frustration.  Its not that Sterling Brown and Bullock are bad signings its that they should not be the first players signed.  Markkannen, Jackson, Oubre, Schroeder may not be perfect 3 and D guys but they are more talented and one of these guys should have been signed before going with players down the rotation.  Then the question is the TPE, now you are forced to trade with another team that probably wants 2nd picks or young players as compensation, so you are not necessarily getting better through free agency.

Bullock was not high on my MLE list, but there is not one guy in that list (except for Jackson who prolly not leaving LA) I would rather have the Bullock, for various reasons.  There is a reason they out there.

Fischer just said on Greenroom the Mavs are done. Like the 15 man roster they have. Dont expect anything big in the near future.

If true, I’m going to be upset.

Also, we have heard multiple names that they tried to get, like Portis and Batum so if nothing else it seems like they were tampering properly and Bullock was the best they could get.

That can't be true. it literally makes no sense. Cuban said their number one acquisition was to be another playmaker and they have done the opposite.

6 centers and one point guard.  Genius.

Well, it seems like the primary target was Kawhi Leonard and then they moved onto Kyle Lowry, with possible interest in Spencer Dinwiddie along the way somewhere. None were buying what the Mavericks were selling. Other than those guys, I’m not really sure how many secondary playmakers were available.

I don’t really blame them for having to settle for Dragic, but I’ll be pretty disappointed if they don’t get him.

Really hoping that's just posturing through the media.

Otherwise I guess I'm buying stock in companies that make pitchforks.

To clarify this, he said mavs “tried” a s&t with someone in the last 48 hours and it fell through. Then went on to say they are likely done and like the 15 they have.

Only SnT was Dinwiddie recently and there was reported interest. Can't see how Dinwiddie is better than Dragic.

What an unbalanced roster. Dragic was the tipping point for me.

Dunno why anyone is surprised.  They have been inept at FA for 12 years now.  This wasn't going to be any different.

Yeah, every positive thing I have said about this week’s changes was under the assumption that re-signing THJ and adding Dragic were to be the two most significant moves. Bullock and Brown being the third and fourth most significant, with retaining WCS pushed way down the list makes all of those moves seem better, too.

This seems contradictory to me. Are they choosing to be done because they like the 15 they have, or are they done because they can’t get anything done? It sure seems like a lot of failed plans are stacking up, just like normal.

If this is true, this was a failed off season by a mile. The off season isn't done and there's still plenty of time to save it, but if this is truly it we better enjoy Luka while we can. He won't stay like Dirk did through Cuban's failures. I'm hoping like everyone that we aren't done. We can't be done if we want to be competitive next season.

So, Luka loses by one point in a chance to play for the Gold... Then finds out his front office and owner are buffoons within a few hours of each other.

So how do you think he feels about that?

OK, so “later in the off-season” isn’t quite as sinister sounding as “done.”

Hopefully, they are just waiting for the right opportunity. Maybe Dragic will get bought out, or maybe someone else will be available in trade before the season starts.

lol what if the failed SNT was for Danny Green.

I can't help but notice his salary would fit into the TPE.

LMAO

Dont think I'm paying for AT&T TV this year just to get Bally Sports Southwest.  That feel when the Rangers and Mavs owners are worse than Jerry.  Time to accept we're a poverty franchise.  Cuban must have lost his ass in crypto.

IF another move is coming, it'll be later in the offseason.  Just saying the Mavs dont have anything cooking right now.
