Is there one that plays defense?

How about Trey Burke and Dwight Powell for Terrence Ross instead.

Woj sounds confident. And he also talks up Dragic to Dallas or the Pelicans.

"The Heat picked up the option on Dragic's $19.4 million contract for the 2021-2022 season, making him an ideal contractual fit to include in talks to make a deal possible with the Raptors. A market exists for the Raptors to move Dragic, 35, onto a new team, including the Dallas Mavericks and New Orleans Pelicans, sources said.... Dragic has been a longtime mentor to Mavericks star Luka Doncic, both natives of Slovenia. They also share an agent, Bill Duffy of BDA Sports."

I’m really not interested in Goran Dragic. I mean maybe if the Raptors want to do a Dwight Powell for Dragic swap. Otherwise, no thank you.

This exactly. Only if they take back Dwight. Using 19 million of your space on Dragic is a massive failure.

If the Raptors take back Dragic, they obviously have believe they think they can return a positive asset by shipping him elsewhere. A year of Dragic doesn't seem like the end of the world but I wouldn't give anything of value for the pleasure.

Must not get into a bidding war for an overpaid season of old, creaky Dragic. Let the Pelicans do something that foolish.

Yeah I think so. If the Heat did not pick up the contracts for Goran and Iggy, could they have still sent Precious and Cap room for a Lowry Sign and trade?
Dragic at 19 million is a no for me. Two years ago he would have been real nice, but I think we have to consider the bubble Dragic an exception to the type of player he is now. Also, I always worry about what a player looks like after he leaves the Heat franchise. They tend to look better in Heat jerseys.
Dragic for Powell...is probably not a yes from me either. It still eats up around 10 million of space. To be honest, I may prefer Jalen to him moving forward anyway.

My bidding war ends up at us striking out on other desirables and taking him into our space.

You all are pretty narrow-minded. Shipping out a multiple-year Powell plus Burke for one year of Goran makes him essentially free. Shipping out KP for one year of Goran might be the best way to move a contract that you consider an albatross (if Mavs think of KP as an albatross, which they might). Sending all the above to Toronto plus some other assets for Goran + Pascal would also be an interesting move.
The sky is not falling yet.

I'd be totally down for trading for Goran after using the cap space on other good players. It's just using most of our cap space on him (while also sacrificing THJ, the TPE, and the larger MLE) that I don't love. So you're right -- it's all about how you make it happen while maximizing our ability to improve the team.

Was thinking about the Pascal angle but no idea if Toronto wants KP.
This works as a framework but Dallas probably needs to add a pick or so:
Toronto: Jalen, Precious, KP
Heat: Lowry
Dallas: Dragic, Pascal

Now, that is kind of interesting since we are looking for a home for one of our centers.

Was thinking the Mavs might show interesting Kemba (again?) depending on how things shake out.

Ok, this will never happen but Powell for Goran and Boucher. I believe this would clear cap room for the Raptors to try to sign a center. But maybe with Precious they think they have their future center. Masai typically doesn't give away assets but Boucher is free after this year and will be hard for them to keep. Nico did say they want to surround Luka with Shooting, length, and rebounding. Boucher offers all three.
Again, probably not a shot in heck but it could create room for Toronto and would leave room for Dallas as well.

With the Lakers acquiring Russell Westbrook and his massive salary, could the Mavs swoop in and get Talen Horton-Tucker? I mean my goodness the Lakers have 3 guys making about 120 million combined for the next few years. I'm guessing they want to fill the rest of their roster with not too many more high-priced players. THT could definitely fill the role as a starter opposite of Luka. He would be our secondary ball handler. He plays solid defense and is remarkably only 20 years old. I know his 3 point percentage wasn't great (only 28%) this past year, but when he actually started, it was a little better. The potential is definitely there. I would be ok with a THT and Richaun Holmes offseason.
