Even if "star" player costs 29 mil, Mavs salary cap would still be only roughly 120 mil before BaE and potential other vet min. That’s the dream scenario but the players we’d offer there probably have negative value aggregated.
Maxi positive
Powell/Burke definitely negative
WCS might be neutral
I think we’d have to sweeten a deal here. Has to be worth it, then.

Re Lonzo: man. I’d definitely prefer Lonzo over Lowry individually but even more so at that number. Lonzo would help in so many different areas of need. I don’t understand why we’re apparently not interested in him.

Schroeder situation will be interesting to watch, because LA will be begging on their knees to get TE if he goes elsewhere

Rose and Ball to the Bulls? Respect, pretty swift recovery from losing Lavine to the Mavs.
Since we always play the Luka/Kidd connection card. What about Lonzo/Kidd? Wasn´t that always the comparison?

I guess with the moves during the draft the Knicks created an additional 2-3 million in cap space. Zach Lowe did not know what they were up to but thought those moves had some purpose behind them. They have over 50 million I believe.
To be fully transparent, as one of the guys in the front seat on the Derozan bandwagon, he was brought up on the Zach Lowe Podcast with Bobby Marks. There were wondering where he would wind up and didn't see a clear fit. Marks mentioned Dallas as a potential destination. The only comment from Lowe was "yuck".

Lowe hates DeRozan, much like KOC hates Westbrook. Every writer has them.

Everything I've read indicates that one way or another he wants to make his way to the Lakers.

Edit: I see the Sterling Brown bit was already discussed. Would be a solid rotation player but not sure why that’s one that’s already been settled on.

IF there is a card to be played here it not a good one...
I am not sure that Lonzo is going to be a big fan of "the Lakers do it this way with LeBron" analogies.

It reminds me a bit of when MacMahon made an unusually specific early call a few years ago predicting Cheick Diallo to Dallas. But that never happened, and it was probably just an agent favor to Duffy.
That said, I do think Sterling Brown could be a nice addition. Assuming the rumor is true, it would likely indicate that Brown is destined either for the vet minimum or one of the exceptions after the other larger moves are done.

Looks like Brown is repped by the same agency as Lowry and THJ. So, there ya go. Good call.

Stein is most interested in what DDR is going to do, is he really willing to take a 6M deal to play with Lebron...says it’s hard for players to take a pay cut one season and then get a hefty raise the next season from another team
Fischer said if he has to put a bet on it, he guesses Lakers
From the Stein Fischer talk...
Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...

Stein hasn’t heard the Knicks mentioned with Lowry for a little while now (says Knicks are being quite)...still mentions Dallas/Miami/NOP

Re-sign THJ + WCS + TPE (somebody's salary dump for 11 mil) + MLE
or
35 mil in cap for 2 players + Room
The second option has more options and value. The first option would be a last resort if we can't get anything with cap space.
I think you are right if we are sticking to the plan regarding THJ and Lowry. Trading Richardson actually made it more difficult to find over the cap trade matches.
$35mm in space still doesn't get it done. Powell goes home? Maxi? Hopefully not Maxi Plus. Financially Powell outgoing (while keeping WCS) and Maxi outgoing are fairly similar from a remaining cap standpoint.
My assumption is Toronto takes Powell plus Brunson
We keep WCS (I'm really hoping the Boston reporter is correct about Moses Brown as a third C when KP sits or is injured).
Leaves enough money to do the 3/$90mm thing and keep THJ at about $14mm
Use some of the rMLE on Sterling Brown.

If you expand to a three team deal and send Maxi somewhere, you are basically at enough salary to operate over the cap. Boston just got suitable TE, for example

Under the cap you lose TE and MLE. Over the cap you lose Maxi but gain TE and MLE. If you can get Nance in TE, you basically replaced Maxi (if not better) and got higher exception
