2020-2021 ROSTER TALK: Archived
Would Dirk be able to get Holger a larger role in the organization?? Or could Dirk turn into a Holger who is known and respected???

Holger Gschwindner is 75 but is still active as coach. But i highly doubt that he would leave Germany. Everything he did was for Dirk but that chapter is over

If you look at it that way, all the rumours suddenly make a lot of sense.

Why would any team be interested in these guys as their first calls. At least Oladipo is a Monta Ellis All-Star. Dinwiddie and Oubre are more like OJ Mayo All-Stars.

My gawd.  What a terrible year to implement plan powder. All three of these guys are downgrades, and that’s saying something.  The Mavs should just try again for the Failed Trade Three — Jones Jr., Dragic, and Olynyk.  They’re all free now.  That would be better than a guy who can’t shoot but thinks he’s worth $25 million coming off a major injury, a guy who’s greatest attribute is his nickname, and a guy who literally can’t play.

Old news. Two years ago. Lakers were pissed because they wanted Kawhi and someone else got him, so they filed a complaint. They're entitled to what they want, right? Not saying Uncle Dennis was absolved, but the "investigation" and its outcome (new rules added) are long over.

Of course it was old news lol.  I was just reminding those that may not remember Uncle Dennis.

Uncle Dennis is indeed part of the package that comes with Kawhi.

And imo, if Kawhi wants to be a Mav, it's so unimportant. Do the deal. Figure out the little stuff later. (And everything else is "little stuff.")

I think I agree with you here. But, I know Cuban has said in public that he doesn't agree that certain players deserve crazy, special treatment. I can see where he's coming from, too, but I wonder if he's smart enough to throw that out the window for a guy like KL. This is the number 1 reason I don't see them being able to sign Leonard.

Mark will bend for Kawhi.

I mean, he has literally said they don't do things other teams do, such as let players' entourages onto the team plane, etc. I agree there's a history of finding "official jobs" for people associated with players - I'm pretty sure that's how Al Whitley got here.

Idk though...KL and uncle Dennis are on a whole new level, I think. We'll see.

I don’t think that will be the reason Kawhi doesn’t come. I think it would be that Kawhi wants to stay in LA and be the clear #1.

Uncle Dennis seems pretty normal to me, feels the media made him out to be this shady, mysterious character pulling strings behind the scenes: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dennis-r-robertson-004a7447

Oh, FOR SURE!

Dream of playing at home in LA? Check.

Another top player on the roster, and an overall team good enough to contend? Check.

An organization that will cater to your every whim? Check.

Even the coach is a plus now, I think.

Tough to imagine how/why Leonard would even seriously consider leaving. I think it's a total non-story.

Many of the regular ones we read about but several interesting ones to me are Mikal Bridges, JJJ, Turner and Brogdon along with the SAS guys.  Per Supes the Mavs are shopping DP and Maxi along with KP and WCS.

I guess the question is would you pay max money to JJJ or Bridges.

Cleveland will do something with Love this season. His contract is awful, so they might be a team that would see KP as a big upgrade for same money. The alternative is buy out Love and get nothing. Of course I would want a compensation for this, but I am not really a Sexton fan. Do you see a third team in this, where Cleveland takes KP, Dallas takes Love while the third team gets Sexton for compensation to Dallas.

This is what I came up with:
1. Would Indy give up Turner for Sexton and Powell?
2. Orlando for #8 and one of their rookie deal guys (Bamba, Carter or Okeke)
3. San Antonio give up White for Sexton and Powell?
4. OKC for Dort and 2023 FRP?

Anything else?

First would come a kings ransom. I can totally believe they are scanning the market, but they will not sell them for free. That's why I don't think I would consider it.

Bagley is intriguing. I would pay a couple of second rounders to take him into cap space.

If KP = JC and JC = JJJ then KP = JJJ.  Sports math Smile

I might do that one.

Smile  However, Memphis or Atlanta doesn't want to pay max to either JC or JJJ. Using your equation above it means they don't want KP.

Nevertheless, JJJ is as often injured as KP. Sample size is small but he looks like a player you could build around easily. True 3-D big who can guard on perimeter. But he is not nearly a max guy unless his next season will be absolutely stellar. I don't buy max offers for Bridges. He is an excellent role player, but still just a role player. It would be crazy to pay him max.
