Just wait and see what we for GM/Basketball Prez.
It's too early to get really bummed yet. This could all be really good.
Hearing/reading stuff today... The fact that Rick is clashing with Luka already and has clashed with all of the Duffy guys here for years.... I think it was time for a change. We don't want to be pissing off agents/players and not getting guys to want to come play here.
Mavs need a GM/Coach combo that can recruit guys and have guys want to play for them. I mentioned JKidd earlier... How many guys thru the years would even think to speak up if Rick was going to get fired? Dirk and JJ?

I have hope the consulting firm Mark hired will help us end up with a good GM and a good GM will help us end up with a good coach. Sportsology has a reputation to maintain, I don't think they would take the GM search job if they thought Cuban will just disregard their advice and hire his buddy.
I think the litmus test will be Michael Finley. I love Finley, but we need to bring in new blood after this disaster. I think if Finley is hired then that is a clue that Mark will never change and will be meddling with the team forever. Finley is the obvious "Mark Cuban choice". Already the VP of Basketball Ops. He's Mavs family. That's totally Cuban's MO, he's a "keep it in the family" type of guy.
However, if we end up with a somewhat unknown from a different organization then I think we can know for sure that Mark actually listened to some advice for once. If it's some guy you've never heard of then I think you can feel a little more optimistic about the direction of the team after this. Or obviously if we land a big name like Masai Ujiri we can celebrate as well.

MacMahon Nugget (from Lowe Podcast):
Duffy hated what RC did to Collison and Rondo (his clients) and does not have much trust in RC to handle Luka properly (his client).
Note: He said this before RC walked away, but I am curious if Cuban was saying to RC, "You can stay and I want you here, but here are the parameters...."

This news registers to me as a positive indicator now that Carlisle is gone. I don’t want to capitulate to Duffy but Carlisle has his weaknesses and those weaknesses seem to be a major division between he and Luka. Now winning always cures everything but without winning..dot dot dot
Thank you Donnie.

Luka's issue with RC is how RC treats OTHER players and people.

MacMahon Nugget (from Lowe Podcast):
He thought RC would make it to the season opener, but he said RC was on the hot seat and if Luka said he was done with RC it would be over.
NOTE: This was before RC stepped down today.

This is why a lot of us have called for RC to be gone.

Yep.
And I was also incredibly struck by MacMahon highlighting that Luka didn't have an issue with how RC treated him, but how RC treated other players. Luka seems like a big people person who is sensitive to that kind of thing.

Ok, do MacMahon now a good source? I remember for last couple of years he has no real insider within the organisation.
Now he is sayong something that happened in the past, that won't be challenged since those folks moved out, and I suppose to believe him?

My pendulum of fear has swung a bit closer to the optimistic side with some of this. I still think if there is any truth to a rift between Bob and Luka, he's got to go. But who knows, we've already seen so many false assumptions about Luka's reactions to this news.
All Cuban needs to do is hire Ujiri and let him cure the ills of the front office. It just makes too much sense not to do.

Most raptors fans seem to think that if he leaves TOR, it's to go do humanitarian and basketball work in Africa. Doesn't sound like a guy that would want to work for Cuban.

He's probably getting ready to tweet about how Dirk is going into the hall of fame as a Spur, or about how the team is moving to Vegas.

Cool. I think I'll join him in Africa.
Nothing matters. Basketball is stupid.
