Just feels like a healthy conversation to have, ya know?

Let me show you what this FO has done.

Luka Doncic

Larry Hughes
Drew Gooden
Zydrunas Ilgauskas
Anderson Varejao
Eric Snow
Sasha Pavlovic
Damon Jones
Donyell Marshall
Daniel Gibson

You want a reminder what happened three years later in 2010.

Luka has the individual talent to lead a team to 5+ championships. The question is does he have the front office, too?

The newsy clickbait followup was that they claim to have a source who says there's mutual interest between Dallas and Turner. Which doesn't surprise me in the slightest, considering Turner's Dallas roots and Carlisle's known love of the guy. Now whether there's a deal to be made that makes both sides happy is another matter, but I'd love to have Turner on this team.

Yeah, I share your skepticism of Fisher's stuff, but I, too, would love Turner here. @"ItsGoTime" has been on that for a while.

So mutual interest btwn Turner's camp and Mavs would make sense but you have to have the Pacers on board. There's no telling what their priorities are. I still would be pretty shocked if Pacers/KP see a match.

Need a 3rd team. Maybe the Celtics? Walker and minor assets to the Pacers. KP to the Celtics. Turner and salary filler (Lamb...pipe dream McConnell sign&trade) to Dallas.

Hey man, that roster made the finals and call me crazy, I would be ecstatic if our roster made it that far.

That roster is a fair comparison because that roster is obviously not as far along as the generational talent that franchise happened to land which is a very good problem to have.  We are in year THREE of our rebuild and doing what we're doing.  If you're going to worry about something that could happen in 3 years (in our case, Luka will be in the middle of a 5 year record extension at that point) then I don't know what to tell you.

Dan Gilbert and Danny Ferry didn't cash in, no doubt.  But I don't understand how anyone can watch us operate through the Dirk years and think that this franchise isn't going to do everything in it's power to try every combination out there to keep our franchise player happy.  Also, it's just weird that people are already jumping to this conclusion over a 22 year old kid who has shown zero sign of being upset here.

Look, I know you'll chirp back because you got a lot to say (and honestly there's plenty of things I agree with, I think Lavine should be a target for us) but dude...I feel bad for you.  I've never seen you write a single positive thing about this team.  We're in the middle of experiencing history right now and I'm worried you're depriving yourself of that.  This could be the very very very very beginning of something fantastic and there's just too many people (more than 0 meets that definition) who are acting like this is the end of the road.

It's all just strange to me, I used to be hyper critical during the Dirk years and looking back I think I didn't allow myself to just enjoy the ride of a team that won a TON of NBA games and a front office that constantly showed a lot of creativity when it came to roster construction during an era that had a lot of competition towards the top.  I'm deliberating choosing this time around to roll down the window and really take in the fact that there is a incredibly real possibility that the future of the league is wearing a Mavericks jersey at the moment and seeing what happens next.

I'm big on moving KP and bringing in Holmes but Turner would be an even better fit here on both ends.

It's honestly kind of wild how many directions this offseason could go.  If (and hopefully when) the Mavs move KP then all of the sudden it's basically Luka/DFS/Maxi/Powell and a clean slate which is crazy.

(disclaimer, still hoping that KP can shut me up in a potential second round with Gobert because that's the exact matchup he's getting paid to exploit)

Kp wouldn't exploit Gobert bc they put Gobert on DFS. KP benefits the Mavs bc he streches the floor but on offense KP will be guarded by someone else. On defense he would need to try to keep Gobert off the glass.

But I am not going there yet. Mavs have not won this series.

Right but I don't think anyone wants Kembas contract.

If that´s the case no one wants KP as well. Still think that some small market teams will be interested in boths. Worst case a rebuilding team takes them in exchange for a minor asset.

I still think KP has more value. I don't believe there is a market for Kemba.

Pacers are starting over based on the moves so far. Sabonis at the 5 used in a copycat Jokic type of system makes Turner expendable. Build around Brogdon, Lavert and Sabonis. I see plenty of motivation but a 3rd team(at least) is needed.

IND: Wiggins and MIN 1st

GSW: KP

DAL: Turner and Warren

Could even turn that into a Collins SnT too.....

ATL: MIN 1st and a massive trade exception

IND: Brunson, Reddish, Wiggins

GSW: KP, WCS, Burke

DAL: Collins and Turner

I would bet a LOT of money that KP has significantly more value than Kemba.

I don't think Collins is going anywhere but the Turner/Warren trade makes sense.

I just want to know why. Boxscore production is similar. Walker´s +/- numbers are clearly better. Both are injury-prone. Walker is older. KPs contract is worse (one additional year).

IMO Kemba is on the verge of being out of the league, due to age and wear on his body. Kemba's potential has been exhausted and there is no more possible "higher ceiling."

I think KP with his youth and even the mystique of being "the unicorn" means some teams will be interested in trying to unlock his potential. "Bubble KP" and even glimpses last year in the regular season show that he CAN be far better both in the boxscore and in +/-. I still believe in KP if he was in a better context. He has mentally and emotionally checked out IMO. He desperately needs a new situation.

This is exactly why we need to trade him now. We are not actually selling him low, we are selling him high. He is probably 1 significant injury away from being a guy nobody wants. He has one more shot to be a foundational player somewhere as a first, second or third guy. The Mavs will be laughing all the way to the bank if they can cash in now.

I just don´t see it but I guess the "Unicorn" hype gives KP a slight advantage. Just don´t think that it is enough to compensate for the injury risk and the negative net impact.
At least the worst version of Kemba wasn´t a liability (just a highly overpaid average starting PG). KP on the other hand can be borderline unplayable.

I think this is very astute.
