Now they are coming for DFS.   I can see the Brunson sign and trade/trade stuff starting with other teams as well.

"Finney-Smith started all 60 games he appeared in this season, and will earn $4 million in 2021-22 before becoming an unrestricted free agent.

The 28-year-old averaged 9.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 0.9 steals in 32.0 minutes, while shooting 39.4 percent from deep on 5.0 attempts.
In the Mavs' win over the LA Clippers in Game 1 of their first-round playoff series Saturday, Finney-Smith recorded 18 points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal in 37 minutes. He went 7-for-9 from the field and 4-for-5 from 3-point range."

Instead of the usual Mavs trash for Brogdon/Collins/whoever from Mavs related media we are getting more and more Warriors/Lakers/Nets/whoever trash for...(insert Mavs player). I like it.

Is DFS about to earn an offseason extension offer from the Mavs?

Really depends on Cuban´s willingness to pay luxury tax. Luka will get his max. Brunson will get a bigger contract if he stays. THJ? Potential free agency or trade addition?

As of now (rookies are team options)

2022

KP 33,833,400
Luka 34,735,800 (Rose rule, max extension)
Kleber 9,000,000
Powell 11,080,125
Green 3,098,400
Terry 1,782,621
------------------------------------------------------------
93,530,346

The salary cap is expected to be in the 116m range. Luxury line would be 140-141m.
Remember that the Mavs can create 34.4m in capspace this year or do a number of different moves to add salary. Can also use the MLE/rMLE, use the BAE (this year/next year). Include a rookie salary spot in 2022.

For quick maths.

93,530,346

Free agency/trade + THJ (whoever) 34,000,000
-------------------------------------------------------------
127,530,346

I haven´t even included a single excpetion, vet mins or the caphold for the 2022 first round pick. 13-14m left under the tax line. Can only hope that Cuban is willing to pay.

I find it hilarious the Warriors think they can offload their worst players and pry other teams depth to fix their team.

Oubre turned in a historically bad season. To think he's worth DFS to the Mavs is insane.

Let the Warriors rot in obscurity. If they want Trey Burke maybe we can swing a deal.

Burke for Curry? That guy might be a decent secondary playmaker. Not a good defender though so they might need to throw in the Min pick.

Curry has a fractured coccyx, damaged goods.

This all assumes we are not trading KP.  Trading KP changes everything.  Then you can get a defensive rim running center and possibly a 2 way shooting guard to offset the defensive limitations of Luka and THJ.

Regardless of what we do, it's hard to see the LM fit.  He is a poor man's KP in every way.  There would have to be some major changes in the roster for that to make any sense.  I would probably rather have Theis right now as we could really use some toughness in the frontcourt.

Right so I just don't know what the choices will be, but they seem like thin to me. If choices are thin then I want to grab talent. I don't mind Theis at all. LM could be an appreciating asset once Rick gets to work on him.

The likely targets floating around in my head right now so far are Dragic, LM, Collins, Holmes (not in any order). Not convinced yet KP will be on the move but want to see how this series plays out. I like Theis but Bulls I think want to keep him.

I thought Nic Batum was washed up but he's had a nice year for the Clips, started half their games and shooting 40% from 3. Not sure how much I'd want to pay for him (not a lot) but he seems like a good depth 3D wing to have on the bench.

I´d bet a decent amount of money that 3-4 months ago during the Oubre craze people were attaching Mavs 1st round picks to DFS for Oubre. Tongue

BAE would be perfect if he wants to be here. He might get full MLE offers he’s played so well

I have talked myself into LM if he is going to be one of those guys on a discount. Certainly a JR swap would be a no brainer imo. I don't mind JR at the moment but I think he will want to be a starter so if you can get back a quality player then that would be great.

As much as I like Holmes, I would put Charlotte in the driver's seat as they showed they will overpay to get their guy. There aren't a bunch of big names that are for sure available. N. Powell for example is a guy I think we'd all like but chances are Portland will not allow themselves to get outbid in order to keep him.

For me Dragic, LM are two decent pieces that I do believe will be available and think the Mavs have the ability to get both while keeping THJ.

I'd be surprised if he could get full MLE. Maybe rMLE. But ya BAE seems good to me.

LM, Dragic, Batum, WCS opt in and THJ re-sign would be a perfect offseason IMO.

Also sets us up for a KP trade. LM is a perfect KP replacement. KP stays one more year. Next summer at the 2022 draft we will have 3 FRP’s available(would need to release restrictions on final NYK pick). KP + 3 FRP’s should get the best max player on the market. Beal, Jokic, KAT etc

This whole KP strip-club thing seems to be expediting his exit out of here.

Maybe someone who goes to a lot of games can comment but evidently KP and Luka don't really interact with each other much. I think he's out of here.

KP to Miami confirmed. Dragic, Precious and 2 FRP’s coming to Dallas

I mean some kind of Miami deal could happen. They don't have FRP's until 2025. If Lowry goes there for just cap space then they would be in good shape. Herro has fallen out of favor there so if Mavs got Herro, Precious and more cap space I am down with that. You get two good players on rookie deals for Rick to coach up.

Heat wouldn't have much cap space left over so they would have to really like KP over Lowry, which I kind of doubt is the case.
