I really like Nate Hinton. He is not ready yet and may need another year playing in the G-league. But I have a feeling he is going to find a way to stick in the league. He is not the best athlete so he will need to really do the small things. He doesn't look afraid either. Good bench guy cheering too.

People need to calm down with all of the Terry speculation. If it is a personal situation then maybe he was dealing with something with family/friends. He's allowed his privacy and the organization probably supported him since he's a 20 year old going through his first time in the NBA spotlight with media and fans.
If it was one of the more well-known/established players on the team then yeah, maybe they would want to provide a little more information to the public but for a rookie, I can see why they'd prefer to give him privacy.

Well Tyrell Terry's instagram is back up with a Mavs profile picture. Hopefully that means it is the start of him returning to the team.

Unfortunate for the rooks that none of them got moved. They can forget about playing in basketball games these next few months.
I genuinely don’t understand what the Mavs are trying to accomplish here. They publicly state that playing the rookies equals to not trying to win, but then they don’t move on from them for win now pieces.
What’s the endgame here? Buyouts next summer? By then they won’t have any trade value left.

Maybe taking the long game and letting them slowly develop......Like several rookies this year.

I sure hope Terry gets a good stretch of this season to watch Redick up close and pick his brain. That's like 50% of the trade's value, imo.

Agreed, bringing JJ in to mentor players on off ball movement and 3pt release skills could be a great help for all Mavs players not just the rookies.

I think Tyler Bey can actually be something as long as the Mavs keep him on the roster and give him a chance.
That alley oop made me think happy thoughts.

I agree.
He'll never be as versatile on offense as Aaron Gordon, but that's probably a good comp for him, athletically. A guy with the ideal body for a 3, but who's really at his best as an undersized 4, where his athletic gifts are so advantageous for him that his lack of skill with the ball doesn't matter. He will be an absolute monster on defense, rebounding and running the floor. And, just like Gordon, though he'll be playing the 4, he can easily cross match and guard bigger wings.
I'm very excited about Tyler Bey.

Thirded. Outside of Luka, Bey's probably the most excited I've been about a Mavs draft pick since I don't know when.
I'm not sure I see the AG comparison but AG's build has always reminded me of Dwight Howard (maybe it's just the magic connection). Solid muscular athletes with thick frames and insane explosiveness given their sizes. Or as my father would put it, "built like a brick shithouse". Bey's frame seems more slight.

I just meant in terms of function on the court, but I see you. Marion might be a better example, and is in the same boat: Guys who look like 3's but actually play their best basketball at the 4.

The Raptors signed Mavs camp invite Freddie Gillepsie to a two way contract. I was hopeful we would have interest in him for next years two way spot. He is a little older and a little limited, but I thought he had a real nice and sneaky G-League run this year. When I see Toronto gamble on young guys, it always perks my interest a little.

Is he at least with the team working out?

I haven't seen anything. I don't believe he is with the team. He did put a few older intagram pics back up a few weeks ago, but no updates from him. I don't think it can be good news that he has been away from the team for so long. I hope he is ok.

I can't remember such an extend absence without any communication on the reasons, so I hope it all turns out for the best and we'll get the chance to enjoy his undoubtedly big potential sooner than later.

Yeah, it's crazy. Can't be good. Rehab (non injury)? Extended illness of family member? Cole Beasley type introspection? It's hard to imagine very many options.

I heard he's studying for an appearance on Jeopardy, Rosie Perez style.
