2020-2021 ROSTER TALK: Archived
Powell seems like a THJ clone.  Streaky but good 3pt shooter.  Offers nothing else.  We can always use more shooting though.

Fournier I'm a fan of just because I think we need another playmaker.  The Mavs look too much like the Harden Rockets to me.  Need to ease some load off Luka.

Neither is an ideal name fans are hoping for but still solid reinforcements.

Here’s a guy who I believe has to be at least a little available, and who might help this team: Deangelo Russell. Would he do anything for anyone?

I'm confident they'll do something with James Johnson--he has value to a playoff contender in the East. I could see him dealt into the Knicks space for a pick that could be flipped for something simple like Powell + Knicks 2nd for Lamb.

Oh stop it. He has no player value. His (small) value is being a $16M expiring contract. That´s it. Helps teams get off some (long-term) money. All the value will be generated elsewhere. He´s a contract-matching tool.

Seems like you have a better idea about that than I.

All I know is that Russell + Edwards + Cade Cunningham doesn’t work.

Gordon and Fournier to the Hawks: ATL gets a replacement for Collins and a step up from Bog to continue their playoff push

Collins and Bog to the Mavs: Mavs get their man in Collins and take on what could be a bad contract in Bog but a guy that could provide something off the bench

Johnson and Snell + pieces to the Magic: Magic get expiring contracts.  This trade is $2.2 million short on Mavs outgoing so the question is what do those "pieces" have to look like to entice Orlando?

Mavs would be out of the 2021 FA market at this point but Collins would essentially be that FA pickup anyway.  Bog's contract looks like it could be a bad one but maybe he works as a bench piece with some playmaking and shooting though neither have been there since signing with ATL.  I think Atlanta jumps at this deal.  I think the Mavs are in depending on whatever has to go to Magic.  For Orlando it would come down to how they value the Mavs rooks and any picks that may be involved.

I'd take Powell any day over Buddy Hield.    Hield is a 1 dimensional long range chucker, and if his 3 point shot isn't falling he's is a net negative on the floor, while Powell has been shooting 50%/40%/80% for 3 seasons running.

Expand Johnson + Brunson with Powell + Terry/Green and a conditional (on '23) 2025 #1; kick in $5 million
for Gordon and Fournier

Quote:While in the midst of a galvanizing eight-game winning streak led by interim head coach Nate McMillan, the Atlanta Hawks are becoming increasingly reluctant to move their starting power forward by the March 25 trade deadline, league sources told Yahoo Sports.
Quote:Furthermore, the Hawks haven’t been overly thrilled with the offerings. For instance, the Dallas Mavericks proposed a package featuring sharpshooter Maxi Kleber, sources said.

Quote:One key party with knowledge of the talks disputed that it nearly reached the point of completion. It would have likely involved Victor Oladipo. However, any team that seeks a trade for the Orlando Magic versatile forward would prefer to have some assurances that Gordon would agree to an extension, sources said.

This could decrease the trade options for Orlando. Gordon, 25, is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2022.

Just not enough sellers out there. Won't get AG without Brunson and Maxi, Won't get Collins without KP. I said it before, get sth done around KP-collins/gallo. Don't think AG is worth giving up maxi and brunson. If you want to keep KP, just do a minor move for Fournier or look at Oladipo.

If we were to trade KP, I'd still want the return to net one of Turner (preferred) or WCJ AND Collins (preferred) or Gordon.

Just curious, you have AG over Collins? And how should WCJ be in a Collins package. That would be hard to pull off.

I put (preferred) with Collins, unless you're asking something different that is going over my head, I don't know how you can say I have AG over Collins.

A 3 team trade? Difficult to pull off, but it happens quite a bit. When you have someone as high profile as KP, sometimes 1 team doesn't have everything you want. This is what I'd want.

Following interested in Gordon: Denver, Minnesota, Portland, Houston and Boston. Wants to go to a good team in "big brand" city, which is basically Boston. Does Dallas qualifies as "big brand" city?

Denver offer: Gary Harris, R.J. Hampton and Denver’s 2021 first-round pick. I guess THJ and Green are better than Harris as he has one more year on his contract. Should offset worse Mavs pick. They can throw in Fournier for Johnson and second rounders. Or keep Fournier and we keep THJ.

Boston scenarios for Gordon seem perhaps a bit more far-flung, depending on Orlando’s taste for having Tristan Thompson’s $9.7 million on the books next year. However, something along the lines of Thompson, Aaron Nesmith, Javonte Green and Boston’s 2021 first-round pick might at least force the Magic to think this over. Boston can also do an unbalanced salary trade that leaves Thompson out and generates a large trade exception for the Magic, thanks to its $28 million exception from the Gordon Hayward trade, but that would end up being extremely expensive with next season’s luxury tax hit.

Aaron Gordon thinks he's a lot better than he really is.  I honestly do not want him on this team unless it's a cheap price.  I dont think he has any interest in being a role player and is gonna pout like KP if he doesn't get his shots.

If he were a football player, yes.

Any team with Luka is guaranteed to get plenty of national media coverage along with a ton of assists to his high-flying finishes. So if Gordon is looking for name recognition, Dallas could be better for his brand than you might think.

If we are looking at the offers above, than Mavs could be competitive. Especially, if Orlando values expiring contract. Best offer presented was Beasley from Minny, but Gordon is reportedly not interested to go there.

Starting to think this way about AG myself with these recent reports.
