Making quality post on phone sure is difficult.

Stats.NBA.com lets you compare performance per halves or quarters.
When you compare the averages of the four games first halves with the averages of the 2nd halves you can see that there is a huge drop-off in shooting percentages in the 2nd half especially relevant for Luka and Porzingis.

Lukas 3pt drops from a meh  31% to 26%% and his FT from 90% in first half to 66% in the 2nd.

Zingers 2nd half 3% is an abyssmal 18%

These stats support the hypothesis that Luka and probably also Porzingis lack the stamina.

Luka does not stop driving because of bad decision making but because of exhaustion, same goes for his %es.

Defenders go even harder on Luka this year he is not fit.enough yet to push through that burden and maintain efficiency throughout the game.

Of course that's probably not significant (didn't run a test)

I know Jokic said he likes to play heavier so he can't be pushed around, but he looked noticeably bigger than last season, doughy even.

Nugget fan threads (some posts, not all) I read after the game were all over his case for being overweight and not having much intensity.

The announcers cited, on the broadcast, the ability of Denver to win the clutch games last season.  My opinion is most of that was Jokic being unstoppable Juggernaut down the stretch.

Against Dallas, not so much...

Payton says some really nice things about Luka and this is more focused on Luka and Dallas than Trae.

“We have to do a better of job setting screens on [Doncic] and getting him free. Sometimes playing him off the ball so that he doesn’t get tired bringing it up,” Barea said. “Doing that for 35 to 40 minutes isn’t easy in this league.”

Great read. The ringer loves the Mavs and Doncic

Great article. This is the kind of intelligent content that really sets the bar.

IMO The Ringer is putting out good stuff because their writers actually know what they're doing.

Meanwhile, as discussed in another thread, most local Mavs coverage is offered by untrained bloggers or last-generation beat writers who aren't offering much more than you can get from some random dude on a barstool with nba-stats-dot-com on his phone.

There's another thread talking about the changes in the media industry. Clearly it's in transition. But real, honest, good, modern content will still break through.

When talented professional writers realize they can't keep their jobs by serving up warmed leftovers, generic stats & recaps that are available for free from a million places we'll start to see more of this kind of thing. And people will pay for it.

My big problem with Dallasbasketball .com is the content is no better than it was in 2005. In fact, it's probably worse.

Donuts are now mostly just links to old stories or quotes. Nothing new or interesting. Worse, take a look at one of Fish's video blogs. It's totally transparent that the videos are NOTHING more than a blatant attempt to capture long-form advertising revenue. ZERO production value. Just Fish talking with a bunch of ads every few minutes. The site is a dinosaur and needs to evolve or it will die.
