I think Hardaway is the one expendable. It's been ages since he had a good offensive game, and his defense is putrid.

If Giannis says no the Mavs then the next best player to target is Isaac...he is what we need next to KP if he fully recovers...
Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...

Isaac would cost some assets I think or a big overpay maybe or both? Gordon might be easier to get and I like his fit.

Hardaway is a valuable expiring contract. I think DFS will prove to be redundant, role-wise. Both, I think, are trade chips that won't hurt too much to part with.

The Mavs trade targets should be Lavine and/or Gordon. Now is the best time for these organizations to trade both players with two years left on their deals. The closer they get to expiring contracts the cheaper it will be to trade for either player. Both players have leverage over which teams they can be traded to by simply saying they only plan to sign an extension with a certain team.

Also for those concerned about Lavine's defense, he was a neutral defender last season. He will probably get slightly better as doesn't have to carry the total offensive role like the does on the Bulls.

I would give draft picks and anyone not named Luka/KP to get him...

Long shot but you have to make that call every month...

I don't know if I'd try to trade for Isaac - he's not likely to play much this year, if at all.

But, if there's any danger of him getting lost in the financial shuffle in Orlando, then I'd certainly be interested in kicking the tires on him as a FA next summer (if they haven't landed their guy before then).

Yep, THJ is fighting for his future spot on this team IMO. He needs to step up or step back.

I would agree Hardaway is the guy on the bubble for sure. Remember he had a slow start last year. He is the guy though that I'd want to move most likely.

Mavs could roll with Luka, Rich, DFS, Powell and KP. I would love to replace Powell with a better PF but I fear the Mavs are just too in love with him at the moment.

I am the mayor of Hardaway Island, and even I can agree with this.

He is going to get paid next summer, but whether that check comes from a good team (I'm sure he hopes from Dallas) or if he has to go full Hayward to collect his bread is very much uncertain.

Based on what?  He's 83rd in D-RPM AMONG PG's.  The team was 8 points per 48 worse defensively when he was on the court.  His Defensive PIPM is in the 1st percentile.  His Defensive RPM is in the 9th percentile.  His Defensive Raptor On/Off is in the 5th percentile.  His Defensive BPM is in the 32nd percentile.

No, neutral wasn't the right word for LaVine's D last season.

Yeah must be some sort of mistake on reading the numbers.....

The Bulls with Lavine: 111.2 pts given up
The Bulls without Lavine: 101.2 ptrs given up

He was -10.0 on/off defensively....that is SO BAD it is dizzying.

Tobias Harris for THJ + Powell..

My incredible close and personal internet friend Killer yesterday said the more good pieces you add the narrower the list becomes for that final perfect piece.  I think we are there.  I also think you've identified the two slots where a major upgrade is most likely.

Dallas added Luka in 18, KP in 19 and I think we will look at 20's addition as being JRich.  Curry was never going to work defensively as a starter next to Luka.  I think JRich will prove to be a keeper.  I think THJ last year and Powell the year before were in the top half of their positions (THJ was the 15th ranked SG in RPM last season and Powell was the 15th ranked PF the year before).  It isn't that easy to get players ranked 1-14.  And if you fill one hole, it often comes at the expense of another.

The nice thing about the set up Dallas has now is DFS can provide a good bit of what THJ does offensively...Especially if the Powell replacement can create a little.  On top of that, we have Green, Bey, Hinton and Iwundu all competing for that backup 3 spot.  I look at Terry as the backup to the Brunson/Burke backup backcourt.  I see Johnson/WCS fighting for minutes behind KP/Powell/Maxi (and serving as injury insurance).

So, it would certainly be possible to cash in THJ as part of a deal for another starter and let DFS start at SF and Green get a fairly consistent role off the bench (maybe not next week, but soon).  You might even be able to do it without gutting the bench.  I'm with you on a KP/Tobias/DFS/JRich/Luka lineup.  Giannis is obviously the gold standard.  Subbing in Grant, Anunoby or Gordon (the usual suspects) also works, just not as well as GA or Tobias.  I'm also on Team Gobert and moving KP to PF.  I'd really like to add a 3rd best player to the starting lineup with KP/Luka/JRich and DFS while maintaining a bench of WCS/Maxi/Green/Burke/Brunson.  We really are that close to hosting first round playoff games.  But, it won't be easy.  If you are going to give up two middle of the pack starters, you need to have a viable replacement at one spot and a true upgrade at the other.  The list of viable and attainable guys for this need is getting pretty thin.

Someone? SOMEONE??

It was only your best and most famous internet friend, KillerLeft.

I agree, William Shakespeare and Randy Galloway ARE both great writers.

I don't think Mavs or Sixers would do a Harris deal. Harris to THJ would be a downgrade in talent so Sixers would only do that if they really were eager to dump his contract. We know Donnie loves powder so I doubt he'd want to take on that contract.

A Tobias Harris, KP frontcourt would get you insane spacing. He can get you rebounds too. Defensively its not any worse than Powell out there honestly.

I concur.

I still don't make that deal until I'm 110% positive there's nothing better out there.
