I would think it would start with #18, THJ and salary fillers. I would want to keep Curry if at all possible. I would also like to keep the #31 unless Hayward is willing to sign a new long term deal.

This. If we could somehow turn 18 to a future 1st, we could have picks and a big contract at the deadline. Could make a move then and right now get our cheap Danny Green and Millsap

That's really how I could see the Mavs getting someone like LaVine.   Let's say the Bulls suck again in February.   The new front office has seen enough.  They don't want to give LaVine a Max and build around him.   He's a progress stopper  for Anthony Edwards or Avdija or whoever they pick #4.   Mavs take him with THJ's expiring, 2021 1st round pick  and Curry.

I like Hayward. Is he a missing piece type guy? How’s his defense?

Is losing our best defender and best shooter worth adding him? Will he push KP to the 3rd scorer(needed with KP Health concerns) or is he a 3rd option?

Just some questions.

When healthy, I feel like Hayward is a borderline all star (in the East) and could definitely be a 3rd best player on a championship team. He's a team player also, but can score. I would like Hayward, but he does come with injury risks.

And, it makes it more likely that Hardaway could be part of the deal. Very interesting, because that would essentially be trading the cap space (Hardaway, once expired) for someone who might have been very high on their list of ways to use it.

Wouldn't include this year's picks bc this would have to be a Thursday deal.

Not sure what you mean, THJ is opting in on Thursday.

He's an underrated defender. Not a stud.

He's a good shooter.

He's a vastly underrated driver, playmaker and decision maker with the ball.

If healthy (HUGE IF) he's exactly what they need.

Couldn't we make the pick for them and it be one of those deals that isn't announced until Thursday? I don't know, just asking.

I think I’m with you on this. Just more health risks ans have to hope it all gels. Hopefully we don’t lose all the Depth. But a fully healthy Mavs team would put the fear of god in a top 3 seed for sure.

They'd probably want him but I have a hard time giving up Maxi right now with our severe lack of depth.

18+31+DFS+Curry+filler

That's an extreme overpay. Hayward is basically only a solid starter right now. He's not a star. He's now 30. I'd rather trade for Tobias Harris on his awful salary then trade any decent asset we have for Hayward.

Right. THAT'S what I mean.

THJ can't be used BEFORE then, but can be (potentially) included in this deal now BECAUSE of this decline push back for Hayward.

Big disagree on that one bruh.

That is way too much for a player who could just opt out and leave. We have all the leverage if Hayward says he wants to be in Dallas

So would a THJ plus stuff for Heyward be a pretty even swap?

Will the Mavs be better? I Think THJ would help the Cs.

Hayward is telling the Celts he will opt-out unless they find him a good landing spot. He has leverage.

The Mavs might think this is their 3rd guy and would be willing to do an extension. The Celtics would get assets out of the deal but not a huge haul.

The deal would be like THJ/DFS/Wright for Hayward S&T or opt-in+extension. I don't know that Mavs would need to send a future pick in this deal.

Hayward averaged 1.7 points per game more than THJ last year and is 3 years older. He's a better defender for sure but THJ is the better shooter.

I think it's about as close to even value as you can get. And if you say you want THJ because of GH health concerns I can buy that 100%.

The reason I'd even be interested in Hayward is he gives you comparable offensive production to THJ, better defense and he plays wing. That means more time for Curry and Brunson at the guards. He fits a bit better.

I think they would be a lot better, yes.

No doubt in anyone's mind that Hayward >>>> THJ, and I'm a THJ fan. This never happens if he doesn't want out of Boston, imo. The player option and threat of losing him for nothing is driving this, I think, even if it's not Dallas.
