Phoenix will now resign Saric, draft #10 (I bet it will be a PG) and get someone for MLE. Pretty nice team they will have if CP3 remains healthy.

I am hoping for Oubre now. Wright+Jackson+#31 will never be enough, forget it. At least 18 would have to be invovled. Don't compare with Schroeder deal - Green is expiring and will generate another asset.

I think OKC will really try to trade up now (and I don't think #18 is enough for them).

I don't think Rick wants another guy that can't shoot and needs the ball in his hands. I feel like Rubio is similar to Rondo in that way. Ricky shot WAY better than his career average from 3 last year which is encouraging but historically he is a guy that doesn't shoot many jumpers.

The bigger issue for me is actually his contract. If Ricky was expiring I could see a scenario where Mavs might talk themselves into a rental? As it is I think his contract wouldn't make sense given plan powder. And the fit on the court would be awkward.

Yes, but that's because he was also wrong about LAC eventually losing the Paul sweepstakes.

Doesn't mean "his guy" didn't tell him that stuff.

NO RUMOR can be relied upon.

I am sure 18 would get it done. That's a fair deal in my view: Oubre (a guy they don't seem to value) + taking on guys that have negative value. Mavs would still have 31 for another move altho they'd be out of contracts to flip.

Indy would have to take back several players to make salaries work if THJ isn't involved. Not sure at that point if it's worth it for them? Like Wright/Jax/Boban don't have a lot of value so you are more or less stuck with those guys unless you want to buyout Jax and Boban.
Look at the trades going through. Nobody cares what players are swapped. It’s all about the picks. If pick 18 is the best indy can do then they will take it. The players can be kept, flipped or bought out

Last year I called the OKC Thunder being good. This new version though will lose their three best offensive players. You ain´t going nowhere with Oubre as your #1 option, but I guess that is kind of the point for this upcoming super draft.

I'll gladly trade #18 for Oubre and Green with Dwight Powell and Delon Wright of course lol

You might be right, but Rubio is one of the few players Carlisle has gone out of his way to say he DOES want in the past. There was some note a couple of years ago about how "he could fix that guy."

I do NOT worry about the fit, for the multitude of reasons we've covered extensively over the past few days. I think the fit is a DREAM.

You know who's not a dream for anyone? Oubre. Nice player, and would be good to get off of Wright's money, but not if it includes DFS, #18 or any other good asset.

RUBIO would make the team BETTER.

He is just a bad fit for us. Don't be fooled by a little better shooting percentage. He will kill spacing because teams are leaving him wide open. He can only be effective with ball in his hands. I tell you again - Chicago is a nice place for him, they need PG like that.

If Mavs get Oubre for 18/Wright/Jax I wonder if they would use 31 + MLE to get another guy or two? Like if they really like Tucker or Lou I wonder if you trade for them into the MLE (which I think is allowed?) and then you'd still have a few mil leftover for like one more small piece.

If OKC is serious about draft picks, Wes Matthews is available.

I fully agree with this and fully disagree with @"KillerLeft" saying Rubio is some kind of dream fit. I don't care if Rick has praised him before, he does that will a lot of guys that roll through town bc that's what coaches do.

Works up the latest iteration of a Lavine Dallas trade....

No, this wasn't that. You're right, he says nice things to the media about players from every team.

This was someone else (Harper or Skin, can't remember) talking about how Carlisle was gushing over Rubio to them.

I don't know why people are down on Oubre, he is a better version of DFS in my opinion. I think Mavs could run out DFS and Oubre as their wings. It'd be nice to upgrade THJ too but even if you can't I think a Luka, THJ, DFS, Oubre, KP lineup is a good lineup.

For the 1,000th time, DFS was IN the original rumor.

You want to trade DFS for Oubre?
