DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | Mavs "mostly done...but you never know."
Joe Harris looks to be a little off the Mavs' timeline, but he is a career 42.6% 3-point shooter. Likely better with Luka.

Honestly, is there ANY version of a Lou Williams trade that doesn't hurt a little?

I mean, Wright works, straight up, and I'd be thrilled with that. But I kind of doubt that's the deal.

Wright/#18 would suck, and imo, the possibilities go downhill from there.
Is Lou a starter here? He's been a top 6th man candidate for a few years now. Is he interested in staying in that role or taking the wheel on his own team? IMO, he's been content in LAC because he's a core player deeply associated with that team who fills a leadership role. He, Beverley and Harrell are part of their finishing rotation and get praised for being such. Anywhere else he'd have to re-define his role.

I know trades are part of the business, but I just wonder how happy he'd be here and if he would just take off for starter's pay after a year. If so, not worth limited assets, although I would take a shot for just a swap with Wright.

Lou is great 6th man. The problem I have is, he is an absolute zero on defense, making us worse. Unless the likes of Curry or THJ are traded somewhere else for better defenders, I just don't see the fit.

If danny green is worth two 2nds according to woj/sham or whoever that was......lou Williams ain’t worth more than that

It has not been unusual for Harris's poor defense to completely offset any gain from his offense though.

Joe Harris for #18?

Wright + 31 for Lou? Maybe.
Wright + 18 for Lou? No way.

Joe Harris is actually interesting. He's a massive upgrade over players like Jackson, MKG, and Lee that Dallas kept running out there last year. His shooting could be even more valuable in a THJ-less future. The question is, how do you bring him in without compromising 2021? I'm not sure there's a great way without Powell headed to Brooklyn. That's probably a deal killer.

Joe Harris would make me happy.  For a fair price.

Keep #18 please! Don't give it away for a veteran. #31, I don't care...they can do whatever they want with it

Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...

I'd send 18 for Joe Harris... With Dwight and Delon.

He's a free agent. We can just sign him if we dump our trash for cap space. So dump away if you want Harris

So idk about anyone else... But I find the confirmation that KP recovery is going into the season as a very good thing. Coop pointed it out on twitter as well.. But based on the timeline we now know that the meniscus was repaired and not removed. That's what you want to hear for a meniscus injury. Meniscus removal just continues to make the knee worse over time.

It's so funny, but every single rumor right now is about Chris Paul, Jrue Holiday and James Harden, indirectly.

Why are we seeing Lou Williams' name? Because the Clippers need a pick to trade for Chris Paul. Why are we seeing the Joe Harris rumor? Because the NETS need a pick to trade for Harden.

Pretty clear that NONE of this is coming from the Mavs. I sure hope they know enough to get something out of all this that helps THEM.

Totally agree. Already made a similar comment in the KP thread. Very good news.

This. Clippers are desperate. None of these rumors are coming from us. 18 is valuable in some of these big trades(many teams don’t have enough immediate trade capital). Let’s take one of these desperate teams to the woodshed

I just cannot see Lou Williams.  Makes no sense.  And the wording is weird.  Teams want to trade with the Mavs for #18 and Lou is seen as a popular choice around the league.  So in other words other teams execs think we want Lou.  Not buying it.

I do expect the Mavs to trade that pick for a veteran wing like Joe Harris (if a trade materializes) if they cannot move up into the top 10-12 in the draft.  I dont think they're excited about what will be around at the 18th pick (long term projects) once guys like Vassell and Hayes are gone. Anything that dumps Wright's contract and brings back a decent wing and 18 is in play IMO.

Deadlines make trades.....draft night is a sort of "deadline" of sorts. I wouldn't expect a huge flurry until draft night.
