All this opt-in news makes me think the opt-in is actually before the draft right? It sounds like these guys are making it official on Monday? THJ would have to be in that group right?

I haven't seen stuff in Twitter/Google refuting that THJ and WCS picked up their options. Unless someone tells me otherwise, it seems like you could trade him on draft night could you not?

With that premise I would still say Mavs could wind up with Dipo for THJ/19 and Oubre for Wright/Jax/31 this week.

No, the deadline is Thursday, except for 8-9 guys who are special. Their date is Monday, and that's who you're seeing reports about. There was a list posted earlier. THJ and WCS aren't on it. They're Thursday guys.

A thought on moving picks...
OKC might demand their price in wanting the 10 and PHX rightly feels this is too much in addition to taking on CP3 salary...
So we route the 18 to PHX and the 31 to OKC and get the 25 and 53 (OKC) and 28 (LAL) picks - OKC gives us Green for Wright and Willie Cauley-Stein. (Day of the draft)

Now OKC holds 2 players after the draft we would like: Rubio and Oubre and a possible 3rd as a Sign and trade in Gallinari. THJ and Justin Jackson fall about a million short of Rubio and Oubre.
A double S&T of Gallinari and C. Lee where Lee gets 1yr guaranteed for $15.3116 million (20% over last year); and Gallinari starts at $14.296 million.

Dallas in 20-21
Rubio/Brunson
Luka/Curry
Oubre/DFS
Green/Gallinari/
KP/Maxi/Powell

OKC reduces their 21 cap hit from Paul ($ ~ million) to Rubio ($16+), to Wright ($9+) and gets # 10
PHX reduces the cost from a #1 to a trade down from 10 to 18 to get CP3
Dallas pays a premium (#18 and a lot of salary) to get Green, Oubre, Rubio and Gallo
The Lakers get Schroeder for the price they have agreed to pay.

Interesting perspective from Hollinger on the Dennis/Danny trade.  He doesn't have the same love for Schroder that some here have (nor the hate for Green).  He thinks OKC eventually gets a couple of seconds for Green.  Not sure what is more valuable...$5 million in the scenario where OKC buys him out, or a couple of seconds.

:Retaining the 27-year-old Schröder after this season is likely a much better investment than the 33-year-old Green.
However, the Lakers left money on the table, and you can see why once you look at this deal from the Thunder’s perspective. For OKC, this is an absolute no-brainer, as harvesting a late first-round pick for a non-All-Star with an expiring contract is about the best-case scenario.

Additionally, the Thunder will gain more draft equity out of this later. At some point, the rebuilding Thunder will almost certainly trade Green, too. He may not be worth a first-round pick, but he surely could command two decent seconds. Can you imagine him in Philadelphia? Milwaukee? Atlanta? The Thunder should be able to drive a pretty good bargain here.

In the meantime, there’s the little issue of Green projecting as a more valuable player than Schröder. Ignoring the specific situational need for L.A. that I presented above, BORG projects Green to be 2.73 points per 100 possessions better than replacement in 2020-21, compared to 1.78 for Schröder. The reason is simple: Green is just a massively better defender.

Also, secondarily, Schröder comes off what is by far the best season of his career, and one that was built in part on outlier 3-point shooting relative to the rest of his career. One should be at least somewhat skeptical that he can play another season at quite his 2019-20 level.

Finally, to the extent the Thunder are actually trying to win games this season, this deal clearly helps them. For as long as Green plays for the Thunder, he fits much better as a 3-and-D guard next to Chris Paul and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander than Schröder did.

From the Thunder’s perspective, then, this is a scream of a deal. They get a better player and a first-round pick and still will be able to convert Green into more draft equity sooner or later. In the meantime, now owning picks Nos. 25 and 28 in the first round, the Thunder are in a prime position to move up in the draft should an opportunity present itself."

I'm a little surprised they're not bringing back Payton. Might be a potential Wright destination depending on their luck in free agency.

Wonder what kind of trade value DSJ has at this point.

Green has BEEN a better player over his career than Schroder....but based on last year it is LAUGHABLE to call Green the better player than Schroder. Oh Hollinger.....

I think they would have to pay to move his salary. He was one of the worst players in the league last year.

Ok, this is from NBASupes, so judge me if you want, but I feel like some people want to read it. I'm posting it. I hope this is not true, because it would mean the end of some pretty great things we've been discussing.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!
This one is a blockbuster but not the one I've been talking about.

Atlanta has agreed to a framework deal with MIN in a Jrue Holiday deal where they would get #13, #17, and a 2nd rounder for 6th overall pick. MIN has been targeting Atlanta to move up for awhile. Even offering Culver and #17 which thankfully fell on deaf ears but this one is huge. He was been hearing Atlanta was targeting two mid 1sts if they moved down and this would be it. This would save Atlanta some salary which is needed for the blockbuster deal and Hayward signing.

As mentioned, PHX is targeting Jrue Holiday if CP3 falls through which it will and NO wants a top 5 pick for him. He was told NO wants as little amount of salary for Holiday as possible and would prefer to move him for mainly just cap space. Cleveland has shown interest in moving back and adding Rubio/Oubre. There has been interest in even taking on Kevin Love contract from PHX as well.

NO is targeting LaMelo Ball and wants to trade #5 and #13 to MIN for Ball.

MIN is targeting two top 6 picks in this draft and want two of Haliburton, Deni, and Obi. I haven't heard Okongwu's name but he could be in the mix.
I don't know who the hell Atlanta would target at 13 and 17. My guess just based on having some interest in is Achiuwa, Nesmith, Jalen Smith, Cole Anthony, Tyrell Terry, Kira Lewis Jr., Killian Hayes, Devin Vassell, Tyrese Maxey, and R.J. Hampton.

According to him (Supes), LAC and PHX are fighting over Chris Paul. PHX has the better offer, but either team would need Paul to WANT to play there, and the Clippers are confident that they're going to be his choice. If so, they are the favorites to land Holiday, and in that scenario they have a team (Cleveland) who wants Oubre/Rubio.

If Paul goes to LAC, the package will be built around Lou Williams and Pat Beverly, and supposedly OKC has buyers lined up for them, too. So, I guess we can start speculating on what it would take to get Beverly.

I hate basketball.

Funny how when you have no assets and have to rely on luck and the needs of other teams you end up with crap. Might be good to accumulate assets.

Funny you say that... Because I felt like we only had Brunson,  our 1st this year and whatever the GS pick was going into the year.
THJ suddenly turned into an asset... And we got Curry on a great deal. You could argue Kleber on a team friendly deal with improved play also became a pretty good asset.

Just finding good players and elevating their status by having them in your system I think can be a good way to find value. We really have no other choice but free agency and undervalued players via trade.

Good lord that's confusing.

Breaking it down, he appears to have a 5-team series of deals:

Jrue and Love to Phoenix
13, 17,and a 2nd rounder to Atlanta
6, 5, and 13 to Minnesota
10, Rubio, and Oubre to Cleveland (the 10 is implied for "moving back" with Phoenix)
1 to the Pelicans

So 6 of the top 17 picks are all changing hands, 13 is going to two different teams, and Phoenix is getting way more salary than they can possibly manage. That runs the full gambit of unlikely, impossible, and illegal.

Let's just say I'll believe it when I see it.
