DAL OFFSEASON: Trade & FA | Mavs "mostly done...but you never know."
If we compare this offers for Schroeder, which one is better?

1) Green (15 mil) + Kuzma (3,5 mil). Both expiring. I guess Green could be flipped for worse contract and further assets.
2) Wright (18 mil)+#18.

I guess it all depends, how you value Kuzma. He will have to be paid, though. If Lakers add #28, we can add #31, which is basically same.

They have Kuzma and this years #28 pick as assets.

I thought of Kuzma when I asked that and vomited. I forgot about #28 though. I guess if you REALLY like someone in the 25-30 range, like Tyler Bey, it could make some sense to do THJ for Green/#28. Not sure why the Lakers would do that though. Both players are on the last year of their deals, so the Lakers would really have to like THJ's shooting, and it's not like Green can't shoot at all.
Draft rumor I just posted claims LA is looking to dump that pick in a trade for.a player...
Josh Green is a top 5 Mavs player...

I don't think Kuzma is all that coveted by most. The narrative after the AD trade was "Pelinka wouldn't let go of Kuzma" but in hindsight I'd say it might have been more accurately described as "Griffin didn't want Kuzma."

Even if OKC don't like him, they can sure pump his stats and flip him at TDL for something nice. But sure, the offers would be very close, if Mavs would want to get a dance with him.

I hope Mavs don't spend all their energy chasing big names and then come up with scraps in FA like last year.

This is only a slight exaggeration:

I might prefer Delon Wright to Kuzma.

That is seriously how little I think of Kuzma---a non-asset to me.

Kuzma's hair is dumber than anything Rodman ever dreamed of.

Boston trading for Gobert likely requires Hayward going out. If he's not that keen on going back to Utah, the rumors about him considering opting out to force a S&T to a 3rd team start to make more sense.

Also falls in line with the Mavs being okay with taking on salary for a 3rd star. Hayward isn't a star per-se, but he was one. And his skillset fits right in line with what we need on the wing. He isn't too shabby a defender as well. Just has to stay healthy.

Not bothered as he can't defend it from happening.

This trade makes more sense than anything the Mavs would put together. The Pacers are another team that could get in the mix if they like Hayward as a better fit than Myles Turner. The Gobert for Hayward makes too much sense for both teams.

Not impossible. Schroeder comes to my mind first as Lakers need a playmaker when LeBron sits. Dinwiddie (PO in 2021) or Fournier (PO in 2020) could fit the description.

Schroeder. It's Schroeder. That makes a ton of sense, as I've heard several national guys connect him with the Lakers.

Thank God for you, sir. I was about to have a full on @"Scott41theMavs" style melt down.

Schroder would make a lot of sense for the Lakers. I would hope that OKC could get a better deal than #28. Lakers might need to give up Kuzma and 28 to make that happen.

Mavs could easily get in on a Laker/OKC deal. OKC sends Schroder to LA for Green + 28, Mavs send 31 + Wright, Jackson to OKC and receive Green. Mavs would be dumping Wright's money and getting Green (the guy they wanted last year instead of Wright) for #31 which was house money after the Warriors fell apart. Definitely could see that happening. I would hate that LA would get Schroder for that cheap a price but I could see it playing out that way.

That would be like a perfect way to get Hayward, because he has all the leverage here - I will not opt in unless you trade me to Dallas in a three team trade. Boston needs his cotnract to trade for Gobert, unless they want to trade Smart. The question is, what would Utah want to give up Gobert? Boston can provide the picks, but they would also require good players, as they still want to compete. Utah might also be reluctant to take whole Hayward salary, as they are close to tax already. Still, I think Kleber and Curry would be minimum to make Utah interested. So how about:

Dal: Hayward Snt
Utah: one of the Williams brothers, Kleber, Curry, Boston draft compensation (add Jackson or so to match salaries)
Boston: Gobert

I would prefer to actually trade for Schroeder, but Green is still better than Wright. Perhaps a couple of future seconds instead of #31.

Looks like Oladipo is trying to stay in Indiana very hard with these statements. He is significantly reducing the willingness of anyone not named Miami to actually offer a trade proposal to Indiana they would accept.

It feels like Dallas is giving up most of the compensation here (I realize you haven't specified picks and that makes a difference).  But, if we are giving up Maxi and Curry, shouldn't we be getting Gobert?

Boston is giving up Hayward, so I don't agree we are giving most compensation. If we want Gobert, we need to add picks. I assume 2 FRP - #14 and one future. I prefer Hayward. I think Curry and Kleber is a fair price for Hayward SnT. You trade for Hayward, if you like him. If you do, this is a fair price. I don't think Boston is moving him for less. And Utah is certainly not moving Gobert for a bunch of bad salaries in a form of Wright and Powell.

If you "get rid" of Curry, Kleber and in a separate deal Wright, while you get Hayward on a multiyear deal (let's say 4 years 100 mil), you are one Powell trade away from max slot for Giannis.

I think the middle is golden - it would be one of Curry or Maxi and Wright.

I really hate losing one of our "perfect fit" roleplayers. But this seems reasonable to me.
