Gross. Dwight Powell is WAY better, tbqfhwy
Counter trolling me? Well played. Only problem is Monta has more talent in his intact achilles tendons than Dwight has in his whole body. Hahahahahahahahahhaa

No he's not. He's amazing.
Akksshhuallly he will probably be serviceable off the bench but his hops will not be quite as good. Not sure he needs those as much as people think he does, we will see.
One part of his game I really enjoyed was his ability to put the ball on the floor. It's actually how he ruptured his achilles so not sure if we will see as much of that in the future.

Wants a win-now star and is open to trading anything outside of Luka and KP to get it done. They are a team that is targeting Oladipo as well. They have also reached out to New Orleans about Holiday as well. One of the most aggressive teams on the market. I do think they have a real shot at Holiday as well. He thinks Oladipo is likely to end up in Dallas but there is a mystery team with finance issues that want him as well and might be able to land him. because they have the ability to overpay and get Indy players they covet that they are having trouble getting right now.
Hawks insider that has his own thread. I dont know how credible he is, but he is posting wall of texts about insider stuff on the Hawks forum about literally any team. He has a 200 pages thread, tho i guess it can't be all bullshit. He is kinda posting "too much" stuff to make up stuff tbh.

I don't believe that date has been determined/announced yet. The 10/17 date was back when the drafted was slated for October. With the draft set for 11/18, I imagine the final player option date will be 11/19 or 11/20. Here is what John Hollinger wrote on the topic a couple of days ago:
"Along with that (the cap number), the league will need to rewrite all of the player options, team options and partial guarantee dates in every NBA contract for 2020-21 to reflect the revised offseason calendar. This was already done once, shortly before the resumption of play in the bubble, and it shouldn’t be too difficult to repeat. With the draft likely pegged at Nov. 18 (see below), the league just needs to nail down the date free agency begins and then it can get to work on the options." https://www.espn.com/nba/insider/story/_...l-30-teams

Very interesting, and all plausible.
I think we're worried about nothing. I think they've had a plan for years that has been accelerated by Luka. I think they're trying to get involved on the BIG things that are happening, because that's what it would take to push them off of the 2021 space plan. No idea whether any of it will HAPPEN, but it's pretty clear and has been pretty clear for a while that they're thinking BIG. Rightfully so. They have a 21 year old on a rookie deal who's the Vegas favorite for next year's MVP.
I love it.
So, after skimming most of that thread, I'm pretty convinced that guy DOES have an insider from the Hawks feeding him information. How CORRECT that information is, I don't know.
But, if he/they are correct, Oladipo's value is way less than what some of his fans on this board believe (a mid 1st round pick) and Dallas is one of two teams considering paying that price. Very interesting, as he's one of the guys who fits into the "take a swing but keep a path to 2021" strategy alive.
I have a feeling this off-season is going to be nuts.
@"Kammrath" You might have already gone on record about this, but would Oladipo be enough to coax that #18 out of your hands before they're cold and dead? I can't decide, personally. I probably do it for the potential, but I'm also pretty convinced he's not the answer they need to get to the next level.

They definitely had a plan for a long time, it just didn't really work from 2012-2018 and wasted most of Dirk's late prime following the championship.
Even the year before we got Luka the Mavs didn't tank seriously enough and almost blew it. Thankfully, we had 3 teams dumb enough to pass on Luka and the rest, as they say is history. KP was a masterful move as well. Even if you have concerns ab him long-term the deal was an absolute steal. We got a max player, all-star 23 yr old for expirings, a couple contract dumps and a couple first round picks?
That + the Luka move bought Donnie another 20 years.

To be super clear, my beliefs align with yours pretty closely about what they're trying to accomplish NOW, but I definitely do not view this as an extension of the 2012-2018 plan, which was mind-numbingly moronic.
I agree that they could've tanked BETTER than they did, but I DO think they abandoned "plan powder" in an effort to get the next building block through the draft, and it worked, so thank God.
THIS is "plan get talent by any means necessary, which includes not killing our cap before Luka even signs his rookie max extension" imo. TOTALLY, COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. This one makes sense.
But, from the outsider's perspective, much of it looks the same. "Adding talent" should not be done incrementally at this stage. Starting with Juwon Howard, then moving on to Van Exel/Lafrentz, then to Jamison/Walker, then to Stackhouse, etc, etc, is how they ended up with only one championship to show for Dirk's career. If they have even a single brain to share among all of those in the front office, they are trying to do it differently this time around. THAT is what the space represents NOW, not the (hopeless) HOPE of landing a star to START the building process, like they were trying to do right after the title.

Two good targets. Just have a feeling Holiday is going to command a bigger haul than Oladipo, maybe just because he hasn't been injured recently.
The GSW have a hole burning in their pocket, they are going to definitely cash in that #2 pick on somebody.

Holiday has to be more expensive than Oladipo yes?

Feels like it even though Holiday is 2 years older and Oladipo has more recently been an all-star. I think the major injury is the differentiating factor.

Based on how much I think they would cost, I would roll the dice on Oladipo, but I don't know what actual deals are/would be available obviously.

I think Mavs wouldn't hesitate to give up picks + THJ for Oladipo. For Mavs they get a shot at a star player if he returns to form from 2 years ago. The Pacers would get compensation for a player that is on his way out and then THJ also would be able to replace a lot of the offensive production Oladipo brought.
Oladipo is probably the biggest semi-realistic move the Mavs could make considering he's perhaps the only guy who is in that all-star/near all-star range they could be in the bidding for. Jrue qualifies as well, I just think he will have more suitors.
I believe someone posted that Tim Cato was down on the Oubre idea. I don't know that the Mavs like OPJ as much as this board does - has any of these Mavs beat writer types commented on OPJ specifically? Also have they commented on Schroder?

I am OUT on Dipo. Too much of a risk for me unless he costs less than #18. He is a one-hit wonder that makes me very nervous.
Jrue on the other hand I am IN on. His 24,000 NBA minutes scare me, but I think he has a lot left to give because he hasn't had playoff success. I think he would be HUNGRY.

Dipo made the all-star team twice in a row before he was injured Kamm. Can we at least call him a 2-hit wonder?

He was shooting 42% (TS% of 51.9%) and had a PER of 17.6 when he made that "All Star" team. Classic case of the East All Stars not all being very good.

I would guess the price is higher for Holiday than Oladipo because Holiday is a much better player. Pretty simple.
