MAVS NEWS:
I assume most of you saw this, but I haven’t seen mention of it yet. Followill called the Falcons-Bucs game yesterday and did a great job as all of us would expect. But it’s his luck that he gets the first game since 1974 where a team doesn’t throw a forward pass! Crazy, and the Bucs won too!

Was real happy for Mark that he got the gig as it’s long overdue, but I’m afraid it might be the first of many more. We’ve been spoiled by him for a long time. If he does do more national broadcasts of NFL, etc, maybe he’s a Mike Breen and still is able to do a lot of Mavs games…. We’ll see

He has indeed been doing Big Ten games for at least 5 years, probably longer. I watched him do a very long delayed Iowa night game that ended like 2:00 AM.

He was great of course. He knew all the Iowa players too.

Unless there is some kind of family rift I don't really understand what this is about. Would assume that this is just a formality. Dumont was already in charge. His money is basically Adelson's money. He married into the family and runs Las Vegas Sands.

Yep.  It's a PR spin because of the politics.

Patrick: You know mother in laws are evil. I was so upset, I fired mine. Just for you.
Luka: I´m not sure that is enough.
Patrick: Have you seen Nico recently?
Luka: Nope.
Patrick: Neither has anybody else.  Cool

Aldama is close to returning, man. I mean really close. So F'in close you can taste it.

It's hard to express how really close he is. I mean... he's close.

Pretty funny.

I'm frustrated we haven't seen Biberovic already. I was so jazzed about adding him.

Ditto.

I'm so tired of injuries.

I have to SERIOUSLY wonder if some of the lengthy "injury list" is about a re-label of time off for players who are low in the pecking order for minutes and/or being given time to work on some development. I recall teams like PHI in "The Process" years and OKC in the sucky years, where rookies would be labeled "injured" for a year (like a college redshirt).

It has seemed to me that as players have looked bad, then rather than sit unused they suddenly become classed as  "injured" with aches and pains.

Not saying that all injuries are of this kind, but some. You can't play 15. Players have ego issues. Perhaps this is their solution. (I'm thinking about Tarik, SDL, Max.)

Sivan and Patrick Dumont purchased Miriam Adelson's shares of the Dallas Mavericks last month, making the Dumont family the controlling owners of the franchise with a 69% share. Adelson has had minimal involvement with the Mavericks since she bought the majority share of the franchise from Mark Cuban in December 2023 along with her daughter and son-in-law. Patrick Dumont has served as the Mavericks' governor since the family took control of the franchise. "It's really about long-term investment in the city of Dallas," Dumont told ESPN on Tuesday. "The Dumont family is really committed to building what we hope is the best arena in the NBA, a really significant investment in the city that will help create the new 40-year home for the Dallas Mavericks, a great experience for our fans, and inspire our team to win championships. That's really what we're focused on. We had the opportunity, and we're really excited about it." Cuban, who has expressed regret about selling the Mavericks to Adelson and the Dumonts due to being frozen out of the franchise's basketball and business operations, maintains a 27% share of the franchise. According to the terms of the 2023 sale, Dumont can purchase another 20% share from Cuban at the original $3.5 billion valuation. "We plan to look at that and to do that over time," Dumont said. "I just have to tell you: I love Mark. He's been a great family friend for a really long time. He's just a super passionate Mavs fan, and he's frustrated. I respect it. We're going to hopefully do him proud. That's my goal -- to make all of our Mavs fans super proud about the success of the team and win a championship."
