While basketball is not football, one of the things early in the year that I have thought is how exhausting these games are. They just seem so fast and sprinting all the time. Plus they are physical. My thoughts after the game is I don't know how players can play 78 more games like that plus playoffs. Therefore, I am not surprised about the injuries. If feels like you need to have deep, capable teams that can withstand these injuries during the regular season. I see some good teams and think they have a real tough run ahead because in time they won't be able to overcome injuries.
It may be worse moving forward if most teams are not tanking. Last year, you know you had a 33% chance you had a win if you just had your C game. Now even the dregs of the league are going hard.

The NBA has become super crazy fast and physical. Injuries will occur more and more often. Which is why anyone complaining about Kyrie missing games should get their head checked. Its a battle of attrition before the playoffs begin.

Shamit Dua: I see some Troy Weaver chatter on here, and while I think he made some poor moves, the decision to keep this roster intact was Joe Dumars, not Troy Weaver's. Weaver would absolutely go in a different direction if it were his choice.

Has anyone seen Kidd on ESPN yet? Has he shown any personality? Is he goo?
It will be interesting to see if he gets more chances to coach. The Knicks last year wanted him and supposedly a few others were sniffing around. If Dallas looks like a competent team this year, I wonder if teams will shy away from Kidd. It needs to be the right team. He has a history of trying to gain power within an organization, so I think most GM's may not think too fondly of that. He seems to mess things up internally despite being pretty bland to the media. Also, there are still a lot of unanswered questions with his involvement with the Luka trade. I think he was really frustrated with Luka and was at least open to moving him in the right deal. It may have been much more too. He is a coach who has a WCF run and a finals run over a 5 year timeline. He is also one of the best point guards of all time. You would think he would have options moving forward, but there is a lot of stuff there too that complicates things.

I'd put money on Kidd getting another opportunity or three to coach again. Mike Brown broke through and he was written off countless times.

I can't imagine it being witty or interesting. This is a completly different Mavericks world we live in now. New players, new coach, new GM, partially new owner. All of those things feel like upgrades. The team is running a different more exciting brand of basketball... and you're right that the new coach on camera sort of makes Kidd look like unexciting... goo.
