I think it is their preference to get anything for any of the two, even if it means getting another player and then cutting that guy. That is why they are exploring trades for Clayton and GG Jackson. Rumors are that Peavy will be one of the guys being cut (he has two years left on his deal). The other one is not clear. Besides Peavy they have another 7 guys on contracts under 5 mil on the roster. They have huge space under the tax so no problem for them to eat additional salary if needed.
Kings still have an open roster spot and enough room under the tax for a vet min deal. Not sure what they can do with Simmons now, I think they are paying his full salary after the injury (does it count towards the cap?). Clayton has a 4 mil salary while Sacramento is 3 mil under tax.
Ty Jerome is someone that perhaps doesn't make a lot of sense in a rebuilding season on Memphis. Could there be something around Monk and assets for Jerome and Clayton? I believe they really like Jerome and think he is going to play a lot of minutes. He did miss most of last season though, so we will see.

Yeah, I don't get KPJ either. At least Clayton could be seen as a guy to get on the cheap and see how he looks over time.
The Kings are a mess. They have their first round pick this year. They will be bad. KPJ seems like the worst case role model for Acuff. I plan for them is to give Acuff a lot of minutes and hope for a hot start for Lavine and Sabonis and hope you can move both for something positive....even minor.

Any interest here?
Porter has a lot of talent, but never with the cultural reset we’re doing.
We could use Knecht’s shooting but are probably higher on Biberovic for this season.
Don’t know enough about Clayton Jr. - abysmal shooting numbers, but 4 assists in limited minutes look nice.

The Phoenix Suns plan to convert Duop Reath to a two-way contract, league sources told @hoopshype . Reath averaged 6.2 points in three seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers: Suns waive Koby Brea and CJ Huntley. Both were on two-way deals. Brea shot 43.3% from 3-point range in 12 games with the Suns last season. With center Mark Williams injured to start the season, Phoenix will look to add frontcourt depth on the two-way market

Keith Smith said the same. That is why you do this at a number some here think is high - because if you don’t, you are matching something in the 30’s.

The won’t. They will start paying tax at some level, but like everyone else, they will avoid the second apron. They have options.

Once you add Cason, their math next summer becomes really problematic. Not saying they can't make adjustments to get under A2, but their 6-man core itself will be untenable with AT LEAST 1 (AND MAYBE 2) of them having to go just to get under A2.
SGA
J Williams
Holmgren
Hartenstein
Caruso
Wallace
Just the above 6, with all minimums elsewhere, puts them about 5M over A2. That does not include any money for JWms, Mara, Topic, Sorber, Stirtz, McCain, Mitchell, or any of the 3 FRP's. Surely they keep some of those. That's a lot of talent on the move. Or a major remodeling project.
The big question for me - will they make mid-season moves for expiring contracts, to try to whittle down the summer project? If so, who gets moved?
