How popular do you think Kawhi will be in Toronto?

In his Bleacher Report NBA insider updates, Jake Fischer revealed that the Sacramento Kings' asking price remains steep and is unwilling to be met by the Hornets and other teams for Sabonis. "Right now, there's going to be continued disconnect between the Kings wanting to get back positive value and draft compensation for Sabonis compared to other teams not so eager to give Sabonis the contract extension he's looking for," Fischer said. "I'm skeptical at this juncture how much market there is for Sabonis at the Kings’ current asking price. I don't think Charlotte is really motivated to meet the Kings' asking price." If the situation changes, Fischer noted that the Hornets could once again emerge as a team interested in pursuing the big man. "If that Kings' asking price comes down, I would think that Charlotte is still a team monitor in Sabonis’ ultimate trade landscape," Fischer added. "But I don't think anything is coming to fruition anytime soon."

Whitmore, selected 20th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft, was recently waived by Cleveland after the Cavaliers acquired him as part of the five-team megatrade that landed Peyton Watson in Northeast Ohio.

Sort of like a Kuminga jr type of thing.   If you watch 10 minutes of Whitmore, you would think he is an all star.    Whitmore has proven less than Kuminga but I think there are similarities.    Playing time is available if they just fill and find a role.   Eventually maybe that role expands.   They just want it now though.    They are not good enough to be a top 3 player on a team at the moment and thus find themselves bouncing around.   Whitmore also has some injury things and I believe looked a little heavy working out recently.  Still, the talent is there.

Michael Scotto: The New York Knicks have signed Bruce Brown to an Exhibit 9 deal, the team says. Brown, a 2023 champion, has averaged 8.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 24.8 minutes per game in eight NBA seasons with the Pistons, Nets, Nuggets, Pacers, Raptors, and Pelicans. Shams Charania: The Knicks -- who have two open roster spots -- will have Bruce Brown, John Konchar, Drew Eubanks, and others enter camp to compete for the final regular-season roster. The New York Knicks have signed Ochai Agbaji to an Exhibit 9 deal, the team says. Agbaji has averaged 7.2 points in four NBA seasons with the Utah Jazz, Toronto Raptors, and Brooklyn Nets.

What an interesting journey Bamba has had.

Keels is from DC, so sort of a homecoming.    He is an example of just coming a few years too early.   Now, he could have stayed in college and been a very good college player and taking home good money.   Unfortunately, he has been passed around hoping t land a two way spot the last few years.

I think he still has eligibility at LSU if we think that would help...

Imagine if the Mavs drafted Mo Banba (a real possibility) instead of trading for Luka.

I can also imagine that they continued tanking the year before, got the #1 pick drafted Tatum, then tanked properly again, drafted Luka without giving up a future 1st round pick, with which they then drafted PJ Washington the follwoing year, before selecting Tyrese Maxey and Jaden McDaniels instead of Josh Green, Tyrell Terry and Tyler Bey in 2021. Unfortunately unicorns are not real either, just a broken a** Eastern European fairytale.

Yes!

And then imagine if they’d gone 82-0 in five consecutive regular seasons, and swept the playoffs each year.

…and all the fans of other NBA teams came and bowed down and paid homage to us, because we’d had the wisdom and insight to pick the all-time greatest winner.

...and it resulted in world peace, the abolition of poverty, and people lived to 100?

Wouldn’t that be great?

wasn't the rumor that they would have taken Wendall Carter jr?  He is a better player than Mo, but about as boring as you can get.  Pretty average as well.

I could just see the reporting years later too....Donnie wanted Doncic but Cuban was unwilling to tie up cap space in a move up.  Rumor has it that Cuban could have kept the future pick if he took salary on.   He decided to trade the next years pick instead.   Imagine if ATL said no unless Dallas took on salary.

To be honest, Carter is sort of my worry about Morez. Good size and skills. Probably too small to really play center full time but not good enough to play 4. Carter has been a solid player but leaves you wanting a lot more. Hopefully Morez turns into a much more dynamic player.

There were multiple rumors, but the two names most commonly mentioned were Mo and Wendall.

I think its confirmed that Cuban could have taken on bad salary instead of the pick.  I can't remember the player, but he would have actually been useful on the court, just overpriced.  It was stupid, but at least they pulled the trigger on the trade.

I actually like Carter as a player, but I think Morez is a lot more athletic with a higher ceiling.  Like you I hope he turns into more.

“Probably too small to play center full time”

HARDEST of disagrees here. Morez Johnson is literally the ideal size to play center in my book. Another couple of inches and another 50 pounds and he would be slow just like all the average centers he’s going to dominate. If he’s even half as good as Bam Adebayo it will be one of the best picks in Mavericks history. Actually, even if he’s “only” Al Horford or Brian Grant he’s still probably a top 10 pick in this dismal drafting team’s history.

I have such a small amount of interest in his prowess at forward. Like, almost none. If he can play 10 minutes a game there, awesome. That’s gravy on top.

I believe it was Bazemore´s 18M expiring contract, and the Mavs would have send JJ Barea the other way. Obviously Cuban would rather give up a future lottery first.
