I would guess it's similar to what Grimes got.

Slightly more AAV, but less years and overall money.

I like it. Very tradeable deal.

Interesting.

If you look at the roster for this season, the Mavs need his playmaking skills.

I know some people (including me) don't like his long term fit with Flagg.

This is not the offseason deal I was waiting for…

Speaking of trade value, this means he can’t be traded for a while, right?

Maybe.

I would not be surprised if it turns out like PJ or Gafford deals.

Dallas has consistently resisted trade interest in Naji Marshall and now reaffirms its desire to keep the versatile swingman in place alongside Cooper Flagg by re-signing him to a multiyear deal.

Mavs could trade PJ or Gafford tomorrow if they wanted to to several teams. They aren't ballasts.

Agreed.

Very solid players in the prime of their careers at reasonable prices.

semantics

Anyone can be traded. Question is can you trade them for anything desirable. Haven't the Mavs been trying to trade Gafford and Washington for months?

Steep! He’s worth the money though. In his prime. If he can shoot the 3 ball around 34-35% during the contract, it will be a steal.

I believe extension's trade restrictions are 6 months.

So that puts his eligibility at Feb 2nd, right before the TDL.

I think other  teams have been trying to trade for Gafford/Washington for months now. The only real smoke we've gotten from the Mavs side is that the Mavs were looking to move Gafford for Mathurin back at the TDL and had a deal in place that would've sent Mathurin and a protected first for Gafford. Is that not a desirable deal?

IND went with Zubac and paid a much steeper price (one I think they regret heavily now). But that was a different front office.

Winning or losing changes it all.

Naji Marshall getting roughly 9.5 percent of the salary cap annually on this extension.

Three years, $52.2 million is within his extend-and-trade limits, so a six-month trade restriction could be avoided if annual raises are no greater than 5 percent.

The Mavericks now have an abundance of forwards under contract for 2027-28.

He's 9.5 mil currently this season.. 5% raise is 10mil. His current AAV for that extension is 17 mil. Not sure how he's saying Naji could avoid the 6 month restriction.

Typically Yossi is on point though.

That's the interesting part.  I don't have a problem with Naji getting his money.

Ouch. Big misstep here from Masai, but it's typical of what he's done in the past. Naji immediately has negative trade value and he still doesn't fit on the court without a more reliable shot.
