Intriguing addition for the Mavericks. Biberović is one of the best 3-point shooters in the world. Shot 45% on nearly 1K 3s over the past 3 seasons combined.

Saw this on X.  Not sure if accurate.  Nuggets owners have a lot of money, but they are not paying this.    That is crazy.

According to
@BobbyMarks42
,
if the
@nuggets
simply waived Valanciunis and then signed Peyton Watson to a $25 million/year contract, they would get hit with a tax penalty of $177 million dollars.
That’s the cost of the repeater tax.
ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY SEVEN MILLION.

No, I don’t see it - according to Forrest Gump he can’t shoot from the NBA distance!

Still hope he could suit up in the summer league to get acclimated quickly.

F Gump said it doesn't always translate. He didn't claim to know he can't shoot from NBA distance and from the videos I've seen, that guy can shoot from anywhere.

I don't believe he wants to play for the minimum. I just don't.

It still feels like there's a lot of meat on the bone for the Mavs this summer. Maybe I'm just setting myself up for disappointment, but...I really think there are some more bombs in the air that will land somewhere soon.

I’ve long wondered the same thing about Middleton.  Every time I bring it up someone tells me he’s going to Miami (and he may).

As we discuss positions and roles, some of our worst 3 point shooters (last season) are what I would call point forwards (Flagg and Naji).  Both get downhill easily and can score or pass out of those drives.  It should look much different with so many shooters on the team now.  Middleton fits this mold as well.  I could see a world in which he’s kind of the third string point forwards and good locker room guy.  Not sure what that pays, but it might be a valuable contract to trade at the TDL if done correctly.

Any expansion about Lively and health?  Was he saying Lively is getting there or that a priority was to get him there?

Yeah…OR, maybe Dallas will facilitate his landing with a team of his choosing at a higher rate than the minimum, via his bird rights?

I mean, even if it’s just for a 2nd or two…I’d just hate to think they won those extra few games for NOTHING.

Please let me tease him just a tiny bit to have bragging rights if the Biber ends up shooting the lights out for us - I love Gump and his valuable contributions here, so no need to be overprotective!

I hope he turns out to be great, and well worth his contract. But I'm very much in the wait-and-see camp. (I wasn't as impressed by the videos of him making shots in a Turkish league as others seemed to be.)

Signing this dude is just more fuel to the fire for John PullAThreeForUs.

The Biber signing brings us to 15 on the roster.  I plugged in $7.5mm for his salary as a guess for now and it takes our salary total to $188.5mm which is $11.9mm under the tax line.

As it now stands we still have the part of the MLE not used by Biber.  We may have the BAE depending on whether it was needed for Sasser or not.

Right now the only players "lost" have been AJJ and Bagley.  It isn't looking good for Powell, Middleton and BWill at this point.  But, it isn't out of the realm of possibility that Klay could be bought out.  It is also possible that Nembhard might be cut if something else presented itself.  I'm not sure the team needs both Nembhard and Sasser, but that can be sorted out in training camp.

Are you giving up on your multi-team deal prediction? I'm buying it more with each passing day.

Not at all.  I do wonder who is doing what that it can't be announced yet.  I also wonder if there is something about the Turkish team's option deadline that might make us jump out on our own, or if it is movable like we often see with NBA option deadlines.

There is real value in preserving the BAE to another year.  So it makes sense for Dallas to join in if they can (and clearly they would have announced the Aldama deal already if that is what they wanted to do).

What would have impressed you more in the video about his 3 point shooting? Half court with 2 men in his face, step back 3?

I mean the guy has perfect form, shoots 90% from the line and his 3 point numbers are arguably best in the world ever. Yes, even compared to fellow Europeans historically.

Fits into my Naji+Klay for Jrue deal nicely. Even leaves room for a Minimum signing (Cisse) to get back to 15.

First time seeing any contract details:

@Andrea_Calzoni
The Dallas Mavericks has reached an agreement with Tarik Biberovic, I can confirm @yagosabuncuoglu

1+1-year contract

Fenerbahçe gets $2M buy-out for the transfer of Biberovic to the NBA.

————————-

Interesting that it’s another 1+1. That was certainly the theme this offseason. Well, if this guy is correct. He seems legit anyway.

This deal being announced prior to his being traded to us - or prior to the Aldama *and* Sasser deals being completed and announced - was not on my bingo card.

Do we know if it is the player or the team’s option on the second year?

It has not been announced by Mavs or NBA, because it's almost certainly just an agreed-to thing. As you note, until there is a trade of his rights to DAL, the Mavs can't actually sign him.
